Thanks for the great review Tom! I personally love Orleans too, and was actually thinking of buying this one. It's really expensive though, and the box was super unclear about it being a campaign game or not, so I waited for a review from my trusted DT. Thanks for helping me to firmly scrap this iff my wishlist. 😉

Awesome Tom, glad you explained why we don't want to get this game. Even though you like big games and you cannot lie

This is such a shame. But truely Orelans is such a gem it did not need a successor. The original is great, top 30 for me easy and I'll stick with that

Tyrus Sleightholme altiplano is a perfectly awesome successor that is also a lot of fun. Personally I find Orleans THE most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. But I also enjoy Altiplano.

Darn! I really wanted this game to be good, because Orleans is so enjoyable. I was hoping the other reviewers who didn't like the game were wrong, but obviously not!

I know I said I didn't like how Orléans doesn't restrict you enouh so you can eventually come up with the ultimate strategy, but that doesn't mean they had to do the complete opposite with Stories XD.

I wonder if this game would have been better received if it were themed differently.

I would have preferred a campaign style game.

It seems like you should stick to the base game and get the expansions (like Orleans: Invasion) for a fresh experience that's true to the original game.

What a waste of time this game is. I traded it away SO FAST after I found out that it was what it was. I got Alhambra and Fog of Love in exchange and I couldn’t be happier.

Orleans Stories is the PERFECT example of someone trying to reinvent and bloat an already perfect game: Orleans.

Man, I’m tired of these biased paid off reviewers always giving gushing positive reviews of every game they play.

Oh, child..., where do I start. First, if you know someone like that, then you watch them. Why? Second, you really don't know why are so many positive reviews? Because one doesn's like do negatíve reviews. If the reviewers doesn't like something, then in most cases they won't review it. Simple as that. Dice Tower has resources, they review everything. John Smith can review one or two games a week or a month. He will review those games that he likes. So OF COURSE most of the reviewers have positive reviews.
@johna61084 жыл бұрын
Just looking at those story games makes me think the game is very (pardon lack of a better word) scripted- as in your decision space in the game is very small based on how the resource supply fluctuates. However, despite the negative review, I do feel like there is the kernel of a good idea here. Edit: Should've waited to the end to comment.

@Tom Vasel!!! Please review Ecosystem!! It looks really interesting and has been out a few months now, but you guys still haven't reviewed it!

Unfortunately I totally agree with Toms review. This game was a HUGE disappointment. It’s indeed mindnumbingly repetitive, feels totally scripted, lasts way too long, doesn’t have an interesting story whatsoever and the fact that designers still implement player elimination in a strategy game that can take up to 6-8 hours is mindboggeling to me.
@pascalcallemien24984 жыл бұрын
Played it this week and have to agree with everything you said, it is just waaaaaaaaay too long and that makes it boring. And you didn't even mention the biggest problem... the replayability... even if you would like to play it again, you will always play exactly the same game, because you know what's coming and what you have to do and if you play it with the same people you are really in for a boring evening and night.

This game is shockingly bad, biggest disappointment ever in my gaming history because Orleans is my #1 game. No idea how publisher let it pass. Not only it is too long, it has take that, it has player elimination and it has actions that allow you to remove your opponent's worker from the board (which in a worker placement game is a cardinal sin, why don't you just punch me in the face already?)... They could have just add edroll & move and we would have pretended this was the greatest April's foul joke of the decade... Actually lets just pretend this never existed.
