@@kkeller106 I suppose that if not all, most religions claim to be the only ways of salvation. I am a Christian, but I am not a Catholic, and in my denomination what is meant by salvation depends entirely on the person's conduct, on how close he is to the moral preached by Christ. I tend to always remember the Parable of the Good Samaritan in this regard: he chose not the most orthodox in observing rituals, but the worst of heretics as a model of virtue. The Samaritan, for the Jews of Jerusalem, was a seismic heretic, he could not be Christian in terms of his beliefs and rituals, he could not have been baptized as a Catholic, but he had mercy and charity.

Orlando de Lassus, together with Tomas Luis de Victoria and Giovanni Pier-Luigi da Palestrina, were arguably the three most important composers of the XVI century, marking the transition from the Middele Ages to the Renaissance and the baroque. De Lassus music, often written in Latin, is deeply religious and a direct heir to the Gregorian chant. His music is noble, solemn, harmonic, polyphonic, complex, announcing the baroque but still imbued of the Middle Ages. De Lassus wasa highly respected musician, he was ennobled, and influenced the music of his time. Thanks Rique Borges for posting.

Wow, this is some good singing! I have some instrumental music degrees and have played a whole lot of music. Tbf while many composers are ‘commonly known’ by non-musicians, you’ll probably find that even in the West more than half of non-musicians can’t name more than a handful of composers, even the ones we tend to think of as very mainstream famous. (I’d guess more than half have at least heard the names of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Brahms, Chopin and maybe Schubert and Liszt… not even sure about Handel or Haydn or Schumann). More than half of people have zero interaction with classical music these days.

​@@lucillebonds4332Jordanville Monastery released A Psalter For Prayer which is the Coverdale Psalter (based on the Latin Vulgate) corrected with the LXX. Its my favorite translation, very poetic. After each kathisma (division of Psalms) there are penitential prayers which will lead you to godly sorrow. The smaller one fits perfectly in a jacket pocket and has three colored ribbons. I highly recommend it.

I was listening a video of Penitential Psalms of composer Roland de Lassus, and I read your comment. Then, I had the curiosity to surf on your « Chain », - I don’t know why; may be because of your magnificent smile in the small picture - and I found in your list Karl Jenkin’s Mass of Peace. I didn’t know at all that music and that composer. Now, for me, this mass is one of the most beautiful I listened in my life.
