Really neat way to portage boats.Very clever
@lobosolitario-j4c5 жыл бұрын
Portage means to carry a boat between two bodies of water. I don't think it's applicable in this instance.

Superbe coin de nature préservée, des vacances à échelle humaine, paisibles reposantes. Rien à voir avec les usines à touristes.

Great way way to get boat up and down, but what if you are a swimmer..? I do believe someone did swim in the Panama channel where he paid 36 cents. And, do anyone know who's playing?

@@philippemerlin7758 Just pointing out another system design. It was not my intention to get anyone butthurt. I design, fabricate and install mechanical lifting systems up to 30 tons (short), so I have a great interest...

translation: To replace 17 locks, the man invented this ingenious system, a boat lift. This is happening in Moselle, between Sarrebourg and Saverne. To have.

i had to find out more about this, for searching, it's called the 'Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane'

This is amazing! Why is there a large hill separating the parts of this river? Is there a waterfall somewhere? Or is the whole thing (both sides) a canal?
@rikzalmuhammad17315 жыл бұрын
i think the same..
@simonpalmer52355 жыл бұрын
The inclined plane enables traffic on the Marne-Rhine canal to move between the high level of the Lorraine Plateau and the lower level of the Rhine Basin. The usual solution , a chain of locks, was out of the question for lack of room.

Seems a shame to have solid counterweights, rather than having a second caisson travelling in the opposite direction.

I am not sure what to make of this. Pretty good Engineering, must have taken a bit to build it. But was there once a Waterfall?. If yes then bring back the Water Fall. Certainly the People are enjoying themselves!.
@jmt974005 жыл бұрын
Never been a water fall! It's an artificial Canal from Marne river (tributary of Seine in Paris) to the Rhine.There was 17 watergates which needed a lot of time . The lift seemed to be a most modern system more than 40 years ago! But industrial traffic has disappeared and now only tourists use it.

@@jmt97400 JMT, Thankyou, I am Still Not sure what to make of it. You see this type of Behaviour by Us Humans across many things. In this regard we are providing for Minorities, which we often do, except then Minorities can become Majorities, Hence demand goes up so then you need Two of these or Bigger Ones. This in turn highlights we need to get into Space to give us Humans New Things to do.
