everytime Tilda Swinton looks at the camera I feel like she's looking into my soul and judging it

the judging part of your sentence! lol, I agree.

Fun fact: the same dude who shot this film, Alexey Rodionov, a Russian Cinematographer, shot a film 7 years before, that has a similar affect of characters looking directly into the camera That film was the 1985, Soviet Anti-War Film, Come and See A hard watch but one of the best war films ever made and part of it is to do with the cinematography, it’s also the highest rated movie on Letterboxd

Anyone here because of the MET gala theme announcement?
@pablojavieralfaro89994 жыл бұрын
. Yeah, the ones who never knew that much about filmaking as a true art form. Nothing against the MET Gala, but people who are into certain kind of celebrity culture are just shallow.
@abbied8974 жыл бұрын
Pablo Javier Alfaro you are just making an assumption that just because of one comment I know nothing about filmmaking and that because I have an interest in the met gala it’s because of celebrity culture which is actually not the reason I have an interest in it at all. Don’t judge someone so quickly it just makes you look stupid.

Pablo Javier Alfaro well now who’s being defensive? I don’t appreciate someone calling me shallow for no legitimate reason and jumping to conclusions about me or anyone else over one comment. Honestly I don’t really get why you are starting an argument over it at all. Such pathetic behaviour.

Didn't watch the movie yet, but the books is very confusing, so I don't know how much clarity it can bring. I want to reread the book and then watch the film. The lenguage is veeeery flowery and surrealistic (and maby my translation wasn't the best), also there isn't very clare divisions between the diferent parts of the book (and I think is the point) but makes everithing more weird

The Faerie Queene, Edmund Spenser - book 2, canto 12, stanzas 74 & 75
@rollinginabarrel12182 жыл бұрын
Just to elaborate a bit, the whole section of canto 12 that the recital comes from is also known as "The Bower of Bliss". It contrasts age with youth, decay with innocence, eroticism with temperance, artificial beauty with natural beauty - no doubt why Elizabeth in her age finds it inappropriate coming from Orlando who is young and uncorrupted.

I have a love/hate thing with this movie. It is such a magnificent staging; historically fascinating, brilliantly acted, gorgeously filmed...and so obviously intelligent. But the theme remains abhorrent to me. I love the androgyny, but grow so very tired of the 'western civilization evil, being male evil' drum beat.

Yes, I used to feel like that too until I realised that that's not the theme - at least, not for Virginia Woolf or Sally Potter.
