As a young farm boy from Missouri, Orlando was my favorite baseball player and idol from his very first year with the Giants. I could read about him in magazines, watch a few games on TV and listen on the radio when the Giants played the Cardinals. I could have never imagined that I would see a Major League Game and even become friends with my childhood idol. Like so many said in the celebration, once he knew you, you were a friend for life. He took the time to write me numerous hand written letters and meet with me on several occasions in St. Louis. I was honored that a baseball mitt I had custom made for him was actually used by Malcolm in the minor league. Orlando has inspired me throughout most of my life to pursue an education, athletic endeavors in track and field, love for salsa music, and most importantly, how to be a good person. Orlando Cepeda will live in my heart and the hearts of so many others forever.

To me he was like a Tio. He always called me Negrita! 😌 He was one of my Dad’s best friends! They were like brothers and teammates with the Santurce Crabbers! That’s right!!!! He’ll never be forgotten!!! We love you Orlando!!! Terín, Carmen, and me….❤⚾️🇵🇷⚾️❤️

I remember going to the YMCA in Suisun. I'm getting ready to workout and I look up and I said," excuse me but you look like Orlando Cepeda". He said, " that's what they tell me" and he laughed. When he was inducted into the hall of fame they had a celebration at candlestick Park. He invited me and my son up to his suite!! Then when Pack Bell opened I saw him at CHA CHA's beyond the left field area. He saw my son picked him up and put him on his shoulder and said to me take a picture of me and your son. Great memories. Rest in heavenly peace Baby Bull!!!
