Ornatrix C4D: Generating hair from NURBS curves

In this video we use the Guides from Curves modifier to generate Ornatrix hair from C4D NUBRS curves.

Do you mean like Hair from Mesh Strips modifier? Yes. Ornatrix in UE will eventually have all the features as in C4D.

When I tried this, my hair looks very full. Your example has the hair being closer to the guides to look more flat. How is your scene different?

Hi. Yes, you can export the Ornatrix groom as Ornatrix Alembic and enable the UE Export option in the settings.

why bother making a scalp and not just use the character with a density map

Many reasons: 1. The scalp is less dense in polygons, this is better for performance in the viewport and render because Ornatrix have to evaluate less polygons on each animation frame. 2. The character model could change down the pipeline, affecting the hair. Having an independent scalp avoids this issue because the groom is independent of the character. You can also share grooms between character by just wrapping the scalp to a different head. 3. The scalp can have its own UV coordinates, so you can have custom UVs for your groom. 4. You can reuse the same scalp in all your grooming projects. Useful to make modular grooms. And many others.
