After the Cobal fight, Dekkers was beaten by Lowjarnkong and ended up in Satyai Hospital with a ruptured spleen, few fractured ribs, severe concussion and a detached optic nerve. Even Dekkers said he was amazed with the punching power of Lowjarnkong and he cant walk properly even 1 month after the bloody. Many Thai trainers commented that even Buakaw was hospitalized about a round of with the great Lowjarnkong who also fractured Giorgio Petrosyan's knee

Imma be honest y’all. I’ve watched like 10 Ramon Dekkers fights, because I’m new to Muay Thai and have been told to check him out. And in all 10 fights I’ve seen. He’s lost. What’s going on here? Was this guy really ever good? And I mean at Muay Thai not kickboxing, in every single fight I’ve seen of him he loses for the same exact reason, it’s like he never learns. Teeps, knees, clinch, sweep, all that and you can beat this guy. I think I’ve seen one fifth where he wins, but that’s just because the dude he was fighting didn’t execute any of the things I mentioned before Well. I dunno man maybe I’ll find one where he wins impressively eventually, and one specifically where he beats a Thai, cuz so far I’ve only found like one. I especially hate the comments I see under the videos of a fight he’s lost, we’re they praise him a ton for being such a monster and a beast, even tho he didn’t really do shit except walk forward and get his ass kicked for the entire fight.

He has aggressive attack style but his primary weapons were hands and especially left hook. If he doesnt knock out his opponent he most likely lost in scoring because his style didn’t score a lot of points. He lost more than won but thai fighters still respect his toughness. The best foreign fighters in muay thai fan community will always be Dany Bill, Ramon was just more famous from his kickboxing background.

He is one of the most overrated Muay Thai fighters of all times. But Westerners want to lionize him as some mystical fighter who came to Thailand and beat the Thais, which is far from truth. So instead they invent this BS myth that Dekkers was continually robbed as a coping mechanism. Reality was, Dekkers just wasn’t good enough for Thailand’s talent pool. @@user-pd9ju5dk5s I mean that is honestly what it seems like to me. He certainly seems powerful and skilled, but more so for kickboxing. The Thais have a different style and ruleset that is a lot more technical and complicated. He was no match for the heavy emphasis on kicking, clinching, knees and elbows, which make his in-fighting brawling style harder to pull off. In most of these fights he can barley even reach these thai fighters. Doesn't seem that remarkable in the sport of Muay Thai at all.

@@thesun564In Kickboxing rules Dekkers was knocked out in round 1 against Coban in their first ever fight despite Coban making his Kickboxing debut in that fight. Dekkers lost to Thai fighters most of the time and it has nothing to do with Muay Thai rules or scoring it has to do with the fact that Thai fighters at that time ( the golden era ) were the best striker of all time in fact almost all of the Thai fighters that beat Dekkers all moved up a few to several weighclass up in weight and still beat Dekkers with most of those wins being clear or even one sided.

Dekkers was a great kickboxer but his overall muay thai game wasn't the best (it could have been awesome but he was fighting great competition so we didn't get to see it) i hope his family is okay and also RIP to Apidet Sit Hrun (muay thai fighter of the century acording to the King) he died recently and doesn't seem to get a mention in the west at least :/

heres the deal with Dekkers he fought not only under their rules but when they said so you guys need to read his and Rob Kaman documentary about what was going on behind the scenes anyway with the amount of fights he had in such a short period of time takes a toll on the body what you guys don't realize is most of the Thais record are an accumulation from when their young they have NO amateur division so they start out as pros by the time they become adults they do not fight as much and especially as much as Dekkers did

When Dekkers robbed Namphon, Sangtiennoi and Sombat the Thai still didn't think much of it and said Dekkers was great and just glossed over those robberies. Dekkers setting Coban up in their fourth fight is almost never brought up. in fact Thai promoters ( like Songchai ) always gave him "easy" fights ( on paper ) by making his Thai opponents going up in weigh ( some 10+ lbs ) and still Dekkers managed to lose to them most of the time. Jaroenthong for example fought Dekkers who was 145 lbs ( Jaroenthong bloated up to 138 lbs for the fight ) and 40 days after the fight Jaroenthong fought Superlek at 133 lbs lol. Meaning Jaroenthong true best weigh was 12 lbs less than Dekkers and Jaroenthong still won every rounds of the fight. And the funniest thing is that when i say this they call me a Westerner hater lol. Telling the truth is now a stigma.
