Orson Welles never disappoints on Suspense! What a performance!

He really gets into this role . . . and remember this: He never rehearsed! According to creator William N. Robson, Welles was the only actor who could look at a script, ask the director what kind of character he was, then go right to work!

Suspense & ESCAPE! Yes Welles was impressive! I like him as a villain. He can offer you filet mignon one minute and tell you he’s hunting you down the next minute without hesitation!

Excellent! I am familiar with the radio work of Orson Welles, but I was pleasantly surprised how fine a radio actor Keenan Wynn was. The movie version with Joel McCrea was from 1932, making it an early "talkie." A marked plot revision of the earlier movie was 1956's "Run for the Sun" with Richard Widmark, Trevor Howard, and Jane Greer. This was radio at its best. Thank you so much for sharing.

+Walter Wheeler Make no mistake - voice acting ain't easy! I too enjoy the work of Keenan Wynn, especially in Dr. Strangelove! Wynn has his own playlist on this channel. The first time I saw the 1932 film I was disappointed. Perhaps I'm biased, but I think the audio adaptations are better! I've heard of it but have yet to see "Run for the Sun." As always thanks for listening to my uploads and thanks for commenting

Now is the time for ghost stories and fantasy! Perhaps two radio play ghost stories I’ve produced AND a brand-new mystery listed on my channel “Claude Chabot Presents” right here on YT. PLUS, a radio fantasy-comedy, “A Trip to the Moon” starring Joyce Randolph of The Honeymooners, which features Larry Robinson, who, as a child actor, actually worked with Orson Welles. Here’s the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpbbY5-qrtCBiq8--Claud. If you don’t want to click the link just search “Claude Chabot presents” on KZbin

+John Eyon This story (like many) was produced by both Suspense and Escape. I have a digitally remastered version of the Escape broadcast with Paul Frees. This story was also produced by other radio series, as it translates well to a radio play.

So that's where the actors sat when they recorded these shows. Awesome microphones, small table and chairs---wonder if it was common for script pages to get out of order or fall to the floor during performances? Such brilliance delivered in such cramped spaces! Thanks Charlie

In interviews I've heard, they often let the used script pages just fall to the floor. And yes, the actors usually sat at tables facing each other while performing. ALSO, Orson Welles rarely rehearsed!

Great play ! This is a fairly loyal adaptation of the short story.

I've uploaded a version of this story from Escape, with different actors. It's in my Action and Adventure playlist, and also my Horror story playlist. This particular story works really well for a radio drama. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

He did nine episodes, and they're all in one playlist on this channel!

It says in the description that this was recorded in 1943. Which would mean that Orson Welles was 28! I'm 37 and he sounds old enough to be my dad. No where near is manly as he sounded here.😂😂
