Great riding but irresponsible and reckless to ride these speeds on a public road. You have no idea what's waiting for you around the next bend or over the next rise, or if there's gravel, oil or other crap on the road ahead. I saw a bike accident years ago, a group of riders pulled into a coastal town before hitting the recently widened coastal road. Later when we followed them we came across a horrific bike accident, they came around a corner at high speed and hit the back of a petrol tanker. All were dead.

I used to ride my Gsxr 1100 on this Hwy a very long time ago..Its a road that many celebrities and the rich would break out there super cars and yes speed on. Yes going fast is dangerous and most if not all are willing to risk...there are not a lot on hwys like this one in the U.S...If I yardsale on the pavement sorry for the blood..but its worth the rush..

Lol. Initial D is a story about a group of street racers on a path to become pro. They use mountain passes to hone their skills and to challenge racers from other towns. The way they explain each race is both funny and informative. Check it out when you get a chance. You guys riding on Ortega is like them racing on mt akina the commentary between the groups is entertaining.

Not really sure how fast they were going. When I was able to see the speedometer looked like around 70 or so. When I rode in the 70s on a Bonneville 650 in the Texas hill country on group rides we pushed pretty hard. Later on the 750 Honda 4 did not handle as well. Tires back then Dunlop k70 were not near as good as what you have now.

Riders should try and emulate your head turn while in a turn. It shows your looking way down into the turn. Too many riders look down at their front wheel instead of scanning down the road. When I first started riding I had trouble with this, it took time to get the confidence to look way down the road and ignore the immediate pavement. Ron W.

Ron Weiss I agree 100%. She definitely demonstrated good riding techniques; smooth throttle, good body position and a good line in each corner. The result of combining concentration and a relaxed approach. Good lesson for me.
