Retainers.
A spring aligner is a modified Hawley type of retainer and has spring action built in to move the teeth. A custom impression of your mouth is required so the lab can make a retainer that precisely fits your teeth. Since retainers don't “grip” the teeth like brackets do, they can only move teeth in certain ways
The Maxillary Hawley Appliance is used to maintain a previous orthodontic result or to simply prevent undesirable movement of the teeth. Typically, patients wear a retainer full-time for three months following active orthodontic treatment.
Removable braces can be used to correct minor problems, or as part of fixed-brace treatment. They can also sometimes be used to discourage children from sucking their thumb, but this is not available on the NHS.
The simple removable appliance is useful in simple, limited tooth movements. The two main types of tooth movements possible with simple removable appliances are arch expansion, both in the anterior incisor expansion and transverse arch expansion in the buccal segment.
Removable braces can be used to correct minor problems, or as part of fixed-brace treatment. They can also sometimes be used to discourage children from sucking their thumb, but this is not available on the NHS.
