Hello, I have no dental background nor do I plan any ... I just wanted to thank you ... I'm 35yrs old & suffer from childhood trauma. I was treated cus I believed I was throwing up blood; every morning I'd wake up choking on my own blood. Fast forward; my doctor found scarring on my cheeks. Apparently I've been having night terrors & clench so tightly that I draw blood. I've been watching (what feels like) every KZbin video about dentistry & this was by far the best. I was able to give my dentist suggestions. I think he was shocked & impressed. Simple solution... I wear a mouth guard to bed. I'm finally sleeping!

Thank you so much for the complex and well-explained content!! All of your work is very helpful, especially since here in Romania, we haven't done any actual school for almost a year now. It's a pathetic joke to think that one could become a dental tehnician, a dentist or any sort of medical doctor for that matter, only by following online lectures from bored and unmotivated teachers. The few teachers who did struggle with the existing conditions and did their best to teach us all they can, are overwhelmed by the limitations of the online teaching system and peer pressure from their less motivated colleagues, which proposed that testing and examinations should be more lax, because teaching is almost non-existing. This frustrates me very much and it makes me feel unprepared for actually working in the field (I am now in my final year of studies and will be hired as a certified dental technician in the fall). Most people, including teachers, say "You will learn the craft as you practice it". But I don't want to be a mediocre technician, that learns from failures (which costs time, money and nerves). I don't wanna spend 3 years to learn how to do a goddamned denture, and disappoint colleagues, customers and myself in the process. Sorry for the rant, I just felt like explaining the context, so that it can be really understood how much I appreciate your online courses. Thank you again a million times!

Hello Dr.Ryan, In Dental decks....it is given that the best way to predict the time of pubertal growth spurt is: Hand-wrist x-rays. Options included secondary sexual characteristics. Kindly help. Thank you for your time.
@mentaldental3 жыл бұрын
I fundamentally disagree with that answer. According to Proffit, secondary sex characteristics and menarche (biologic age) are more reliable than CVM staging or hand-wrist radiographs (skeletal age) for growth timing.
@tejasvimondreti44363 жыл бұрын
@@mentaldental thank you Dr. Ryan for responding. I understand that Dental decks isn't a standard. I'm going to go with secondary sexual characteristics as the correct response. Thank you for clarifying and helping me.

Cant thank you enough Dr. Rayn, I have one question that came in my exam, what is best to determine RATE of growth? in the video it says biologic age is best to determine growth status and maturity, not the RATE, and the slide before that says velocity curve determines the rate of growth. if the best method to determine the growth RATE is velocity cure then how do we measure it? Also, does the age of the patient affect the method of determining the way to measure RATE of growth? like patient under 17 years old can be determined by hand wrist but over 17 should be determined by ceph? thank you so much we really appreciate all the incredible work!
@mentaldental3 жыл бұрын
I would say cephalometric superimposition would be the best way to determine the rate of growth of a certain patient.

@mentaldental Dunno if you still monitor this channel, but could you tell us the theories to explain increased gonial angle and shortened mandibular body in people with poor forward jaw growth?
@mentaldental4 ай бұрын
I still monitor this channel daily! That’s a great question, but would require an entire video to explain 😅 my personal take, it’s likely a combination of genetics and the musculature/equilibrium of forces being applied to the skeleton during growth and development.

Dr. Ryan, What is the different between skeletal classification versus dental classification? Thank you
@mentaldental4 жыл бұрын
I will expand upon this concept more in a future video, but dental classification has to do with the anteroposterior relationship of upper teeth to lower teeth (usually first molar) while skeletal classification has to do with the anteroposterior relationship of upper jaw to lower jaw.
