This piece of music is just plain brilliant. Been to a St. Patrick's Day Party for the first time this year and can just say I'm glad I tasted of the rare old mountain dew! Makes me feel Irish, though I'm definitely not. Slainté!

@@PlaviStrumf so true, we do have Celts blood. When Slav tribe crossed Carpathian mountains they found Celts over there. The old well on which the St. Petka church on Kalemengdan was build was used by Celts also as holy water. Roman well on Kalemengdan as well. There are so many archaeological proofs that Celts where there before Serbs came and we did mix before Celts set their migration north.

I wish whoever made this video knew the difference between "Instrumental" and what is really going on, Diddling. When you sing along to a tune with simple sounds or gibberish it is Diddling. This is a remnant of days when music was banned in Ireland. To overlook Diddling is to overlook the very history and struggle of Ireland.

I don't know how accurate it is but folk legend tells us that St. Patrick became a missionary to Ireland and converted all the pagans. This was early church history so I don't know for sure but it makes the most sense to me.

Actually, funny enough, I think given the context "pagan" is meant to mean Muslim. :P There wasn't really a neopagan/Celtic reconstructionist movement in Ireland in the 1880's when this song was written... And since pagan just means "one who does not adhere to Judeo-Christianity" we can pretty much assume they're referring to Muslims.
@eoinfitzgibbon87292 жыл бұрын
The original Celtic religion was that of the Druids and owed nothing to Islam any Celtic revival looked back but as with Padraig Pearse he wouldn’t stray too far from the tenets of Catholicism despite the Irish language being led by Protestant descendants of the United Irishmen inspired by the French Revolution As with the Balkans history is rather complicated
@BlodOgJern2 жыл бұрын
@@eoinfitzgibbon8729 first of all this was almost a decade ago so i dont know why you would fucking bother to reply. Second of all, read my comment again - i never said the irish were muslim, only that in the vernacular language of the time "pagan" usually meant Muslim or Mohammedan
