Good video. Gregory the Theologian is probably the best father they can appeal to to reject the filioque (he was my main source when I was Orthodox), but their reading of him would make him contradict all the other Fathers.

There’s literally efforts on the part of Byzantine Catholic Clergy and Bishops to get the filioque removed. The whole “without the Pope there is no unity”. Meme really has lost all meaning over the past 1,000 years.

Do you venerate St Augustine, St Ambrose, St Hillary of Poitiers, St Fulgencius of Ruspe, St Prosper of Aquitane, St Leo the Great, St Peter Chrysologus, St Isidore of Seville and ALL OTHER Latin Fathers? PS: Those who called the Filioque satanic most probably - all evidence points in this direction, by the way - thought that they taught the Father and the Son were two separate principles or causes of the spiration of the Holy Ghost, which is an absurd Triadology. That’s the case of Palamas, who NEVER read any Latin Father and didn’t even have access to Latin. In this case, different from Mark of Ephesus, who refused the Florentine dogmatic definition, he is admitted as a saint for the particular churches of Byzantine heritage.

​@@masterchief8179 Actually the cult of Palamas was never authorized by the Holy See. Militant thomist has mentioned elsewhere that there was a synod (whose decrees were put by Rome over all eastern catholics) that prohibited palamas' veneration. Because of post-vii laxity his cult has become someqhat spread, but Rome didn't officially allow it.

the filoque requires a rejection of the second ecumenical council in its entirety and of cannons from Ephesus and Chalcedon, then again the purpose of the fifth lateran council was to provide latins an excuse to not be like the early church and to not follow the actual ecumenical councils so your rejection of the early church makes sense then again my comments are pointless as Catholicism was founded in 1054 and isn't unified so not like yous actually have a claim to being the true church

since the second Council of Lyons in 1274, and the Council of Florence in 1442, the Eastern churches in union with the Pope have not been required to say the filioque at all, out of respect for the ancient Creed. The Church simply requires all Catholics to accept the theology that underlies it. Omitting an article of faith in a public profession of faith is seriously, again the Catholic church has failed even back then. POPES not mentioning Jesus Christ when with the Jews out of respect to them. And there is more I could say and prove, but u don't have that kind of time
