I’m guilty as charged of being all the things they said I was. I am trying to get better. There are times where a rebuke may be fair.

Much wisdom here Bojan thank you. Great point about in-person interactions differing from online ones, and the power of kindness. 1 Corinthians says “knowledge puffs up but love builds up”. It is very easy for a person who is more knowledgeable or intelligent to then become arrogant. It is well to be on guard for this.

'Raka' was very serious, more than name calling level.

Things written sound more serious than same things said. Also lack of body language, tone of voice, speaking to someone from different culture makes message more easy to misinterpret. It's good to ask questions what author meant.

I'm going with a classical definition of "nice"... or even CS. Lewis' framing. Etymologically, _nice_ has meant ignorant or foolish. I especially like Lewis' framing of 'niceness' in _Mere Christianity_ or 'N.I.C.E'. in _That Hideous Strength_ . It's similar to his framing of 'safe' when describing Aslan: _“Safe?” said Mr Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”_ [edit] I'm reminded of Fr Thomas Hopko commenting on Ephisians 4:26: Be ye angry and sin not... Fr Tom says its better to just not be angry because it's too hard for us not to sin.

Emulate the Good Samaritan. Help old ladies across the road. Be nice to Tiny Tim. Don’t worry if a Protestant accuses you of Pelagianism.

Some people can't bear the patience for charity so they light their fires with self righteousness. Self righteousness and oppression that follows often enough leads people to spiritual aversions to Christ and His church. Much like you and the icon of Christ.

Nice and kind aren't truly synonymous. We can all agree on what loving kindness is. Nice, however, is an old word for stupid, or simple, then pretty, and now pretty much obsequious.
@locksmith949814 күн бұрын
Obsequouis? I think the word 'nice' is very much alive and in use today. What are you promoting? I think most people know what 'nice' means. It's not a bad word, nice is nice, i.e polite, courteous, pleasant, affable, amiable. As opposed to being rude, snarky, obnoxious, irritating. A pleasant, affable person is not necessary stupid or a simpleton but a person who doesn't scare people away
@bsdnfraje14 күн бұрын
@@locksmith9498 I'm sorry, but in my experience 'nice' and 'kind' are conflated every day. You, of course, are welcome to believe anything you wish.

The people Christ called "brood of vipers" etc, were people who were actively opposing God and persecuting the people of God. That's way different than someone heterodox repeating talking points from their pastors or an Orthodox with opinions you disagree with on a discord.
