The USS Orville (ECV-197) was a mid-level Exploratory-class vessel in Planetary Union service in the early 25th century. The ship was led by an unnamed captain and first officer until 2419. Captain Ed Mercer and First Officer Kelly Grayson assumed command of the Orville in September 2419.
The Orville is an American television series produced by 20th Television and currently airing on the streaming service Hulu, having previously aired its first two seasons on FOX. It follows the adventures of Captain Ed Mercer and the crew of the USS Orville as they explore space, battle enemies, and deal with their personal lives.
While many, including The Orville's own cast, consider the show to be genre-less, most consider the series to be allegorical science fiction with comedic elements, intended to be "a return to classical storytelling" where stories parody or criticize real-world events. The inability to fit neatly into a particular genre frustrated television critics, many of whom said the show did not know whether it wanted to be a comedy or science fiction.

They needed the people to see how terrible she had become. All the Union leaders knew they were possibly going to be killed but they were willing to sacrifice their lives to prevent a galactic war.

A lot of people think Michaela McManus was cast in The Orville because she is breathtakingly beautiful (and because Seth Macfarlane only cast her because he gets to make out with her); but the fact is - she is an incredible dramatic actor... This scene proves it when she says: “My dear captain I am just getting started.,” then snarls at Ed… People forget (or simply don’t know) - that she graduated from New York City's Gradute School of Acting... She is FLAT OUT - an amazing actress!

She definitely made me believe that she believed her cause to be righteous. That per people were so superior that they were entitled to purge the universe of anyone and anything as they deemed fit. Making excuses for a vile culture of barbaric zealots while claiming victimhood for being tricked out of committing a heinous atrocity. And for the briefest of moments, I wanted her to be the bridge. But I'm also glad that the show wasn't afraid to show that pigheaded zealotry doesn't get fixed so easily or ever. She did as good a job of getting me to hate her character as Lena Headley did with Cersei.

The Orville is excellent but what follows this scene seems pretty poor. The ambassador who has just been violently stabbed looks remarkably well on it, all things considered. I guess we could put it down to ‘alien physiology’?

I think Teleya stabbed him where it bled less on purpose, so he didn't seem ill after that. It looked more like a ceremonial stab since we learnt that the former Krill chancellor, Korin, was executed by beheading, not blood loss from the stab.

Wait till we get a turn about the president being in on it for some political control tactic idk what but Seth's been too smart with this series not to have a compelling plot hook and twist. Never saw the moclans joining the krill cuz the krill xenophobia seemed a perfect excuse to keep them separate. There will be infighting over who is superior I bet they'll get captured and one of the crew knowing the hubris of both species will incite an argument between a krill and moclan captor to fight

It starts out quite silly (studio interference) then Seth took it where he wanted to go when they stopped paying attention. They cancelled it after 2 seasons as it wasn't "Family Guy in Space" as they had wanted and Hulu/ Disney took over for the third season which is extraordinary.

Season 3 is pretty dark. Not funny at all compared to seasons 1 and 2. Still love it though!

Season 3 is what Seth wanted from the beginning but the executives wanted "Family Guy in Space". He subverted them as much as he could, then they cancelled it after 2 seasons and another studio took it on and gave him free reign (within the budget)

not weak, they recognize women can be strong, they think that Moclan women are INFERIOR to Moclan Men. They also share the same idea for most species, as seen in the tribunal episode where they assert that, although a Xelayan woman is very strong(stronger than a moclan Man), a Xelayan Man would show better feats of strenght and thus Male are still superior. It's definitely a flawed logic, but they apply it in a realistic way imho, in an indoctrinated kind of way that leaves little room for dialogue and discussion.

What I hate about Teleya, is that she is purposely being difficult. She has no regard for her own peoples religious values. She is pure contempt. Her hypocrisy shows when she aligns with the Moclans; Krill view all species as souless animals.
