I used this OS&B Island tub drain for a free standing tub a couple of weeks ago. It was a little on the pricey side but the install time saved and the ease of use made it well worth the while. I highly recommend it. So far I have not found an easier way to install a freestanding tub drain,

Your video says to not cut the brass pipe to length. If thats the case then how much space does it need for installation? It must have a minimum depth? Otherwise I don't understand why you couldn't cut it...

Hello Victor, and thank you for your enquiry. While the tailpieces are cut and swaged in our manufacturing facility the tailpiece can be cut in the field using careful preparation of the cut end. Create a straight cut using a roll cutting tool (plumbers pipe cutter) - the end must be deburred and there must be at minimum 1-1/2” of pipe that extends past the lowest point of the internal seal. I have a couple of questions 1. Does the drain kit below the tub with an o-ring ? 2. If imbedded in the concrete floor at the time and protection will this work in that application ?

Is designed to go on top of the cement board or under it directly on subfloor (assuming using cement board as backer for tile)?

Hello Frank. The ITD is designed to be affixed directly on to the subfloor, therefore above the sub-floor and below the cement board (or other flooring surface). We appreciate your enquiry!

how are the tubs secured? or will that seal hold up to movement, say from someone bumping it while empty?

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. The Tub must be installed and secured according to the Tub Manufacturer's installation instructions. Our Island Tub drain seals securely once installed but is not designed to withstand impact or movement.

To every one using this, just be aware the flange and and tail pipe have to be perfectly straight. If either is off square a bit it will pop the tail pipe off as you drop tub in. Kept having the issue and had to use a flex drain pipe to solve it.
