Any problem when you need to brake and tilt at the same time? Like at a sharp curve downhill. Nice job Daniele!
@daniele_go
@daniele_go 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sven! You can use rear brakes when you enter in a turn , the only thing is that by doing so the bike becomes a little harder to lean. In fact when pulling rear brakes the bike tends to keep the current lean angle....

@@daniele_go "enter in a turn": Do you mean to rear brake before the turn and then not rear brake in the turn, just front brake? "little harder to lean" : Do you mean that it is possible to lean and rear brake but you just have to work harder? Is this a real problem? Daniele, what is your experience of this?

@@svenabrahamsson1412 I mean that when pulling rear brakes on a straight line the bike will be slightly more difficult to lean in a turn. Similar experience when in a turn you pull the rear brakes the bike will be slightly more difficult to go back to vertical. Hope it makes sense....

Brilliant! How /where did you get such long axles from?! Surely they are not just threaded rod - as that wouldnt be strong enough? Great job....
@daniele_go
@daniele_go 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! These axles are 12mm x 170mm, highest quality I found (acier 12.8). But it took some time before I found them...

@@daniele_go Thanks! very interesting! Long term Im hoping to make a tilting trike too - but v complicated isnt it?! So many different ways you could do it... And yeah, so many forces to be reckoned with! Many thanks for the food for thought!

@@fonwoolridge Yes, it is definitely a challenging project. On a bicycle it must be simple, compact and not too heavy.

Excellent development to an already great conversion idea, Daniele. BTW, does your touring solar trike also have a leaning/tilting mechanism on the rear wheels? If yes, what recumbent bike is it based on (I think I saw an M5 mentioned somewhere among your videos, but that is a rwd recumbent, which would make it unsuitable for fitting a 2-wheel tilting mechanism on the rear, no? Thanks.

Thanks! Yes, the tilting mechanism is installed on all my solar trikes. I am using it on Raptobike (Front Wheel Drive) and on M5( I transformed as FWD). It is also installed on Cruzbike and Performer recumbent bikes

Excellent work Daniel !. I only have one doubt, the axes that connect the ball joints are rigid axles themselves or are they traction springs ???, I cannot distinguish them.
@daniele_go
@daniele_go 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, both axles are rigid ones. Hopefully you can see better in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zqubi4ysmqhsgKs
