Osaka gears up to host World Expo 2025

Japan is gearing up for the World Expo 2025, which will open in mid-April on the artificial island of Yumeshima on Osaka Bay. This edition will feature 158 countries and regions from around the world, and is themed 'Designing Future Society for Our Lives'. But with three months to go, the event is drawing criticism for rising costs and slow construction. CNA's Michiyo Ishida gives a preview and update on the state of preparations.

I went to the last one in Aichi. It was a complete waste of time. There was barely anything to see from any of the nations represented, they didn't bring anything at all that showed their culture or cultural goods, it was pathetic.

You cannot be real 😂. Timber is a renewable material and knowing Japan, these stunning projects usually are carefully planned out and therefore will be used in diverse ways. Think before clicking on your keyboard bud

The wooden structure is built to last. It will probably be repurposed as a park in the future to commemorate the event.
