Glad you mentioned Jerry Shang! He's one of my favorite players and I was fortunate to see him play this summer. He was great with the fans! His game is so smooth and powerful with great depth on the groundies. Great to hear he's been on your radar!

I feel coaches are like any other relationship or job. I think Patrick is perfect for her and he will get more slams for her and him. It is unfortunate what happened with Halep. It was not Patrick’s fault how she was strung along by the powers that be. I think it is hard for Rune to get along with anyone. It will be interesting to see who he ends up with. I think Osaka and Patrick are a good team. Osaka is humble and hungry to win just like Serena. I am so excited for her! Just like Serena needed more than her 1st coach her Dad, it was time for Naomi to move on. Like she said, nothing personal. IMO, Ben Shelton needs to do the same thing. I am just not a big fan of parent coaches from the time I have been watching tennis. (With the exception of King Richard) I think Ben would do better with another coach. It was interesting during the laver cup how he bonded and looked up to John McEnroe. He needs to settle down. I hope he took John’s words to heart. It was good advice. Very good advice!!

Wim is a great coach, but his teaching style as ran its course with Naomi, and she's trying to take her game to a different level, and this requires a new coach. Serena done the same thing when she hired Patrick, and her father Richard wasn't mad with her choice. .
@nt4081Ай бұрын
It is the player. The Coaching carousel is going again. There are players like Sakkari who are just not that talented. They expect miracles, but do work on their minds. Rune, as well. He is so hungry for wins, but just keeps changing Coaches and still has not WON. Seems like it is the player.

I think Patrick will be good for Naomi. He will help her add a bit more topspin on her shots and help her variety at net. I wish her the best, truly, cause I believe she can get back to the top 10 and win more majors if she continues to improve.

He is a very perceptive coach, extremely charismatic, great sense of humour and may provide the right energy that Naomi needs. Wim is too passive and he seems lost when he is watching Naomi play.

Speaking of coaches, I feel like Alycia Parks needs to find a good coach because I see a lot of potential in her game. She has such easy power with a huge serve and forehand. I feel like she can really be a top player if she can find a coach who can develop some consistency, and focus her game and mindset.

Perhaps Iga's decision to forgo the tournament was/is political.🤔
@feliciagp6945Ай бұрын
@DanutaStala Because of the changes to the schedule, adding more mandatory events. (And who knows, the fact that it's in China, whose leader is friendly with a certain other leader who shall remain nameless, could also have something to do with it.)
@feliciagp6945Ай бұрын
@DanutaStala That's fine because freedom of speech remains, regardless; therefore, just as I am, you're entitled to your opinion. Whether it makes sense to you or not, I didn’t ask you to agree or disagree and I wouldn't consider it empty talk. You asked "why," and I kindly obliged. It's merely a 'possibility' amongst a myriad of reasons under the umbrella of "personal reasons"; hence, the use of the word "Perhaps...🤔". I'll be tuning in to Beijing shortly because I really love the sport of tennis. Hopefully, you can/will, too. Let's Go Emma Navarro!! 😁
@feliciagp6945Ай бұрын
@DanutaStala I'd say a bit of both, and yes, unless she says otherwise, we'll never know. But I'm extremely grateful to have the opportunity to watch so many exciting matches. Between Beijing & Tokyo, it's hard to choose which match to watch live. Thank goodness for TC Plus for replays. Enjoy the Asian swing & WTA Finals! I sure intend to!! 🎾😁🎾

A all-round game means the player can play from anywhere in the court Iga cannot play the net, her serve is vulnerable, and her ahort court hame is also lacking. What ahe does very well is to bash the ball like target practice. Iga also has zero ability to change tactics.
@trommelbielАй бұрын
You can critique but the taste of the pudding is in the eating. It has been working for her so why are you asking her yo go to the net?@@pawshands9706

Hate to disagree, but as much as I like Iga,, her game is lacking in certain areas. She is terrible on grass and on hard courts, big hitters like Sabalenka simply push her around.

She remains the one to beat. If she remained the #1 despite her so-called flaws then it means she has no real competition.
