Once again proving that this is the most consistently good series. Every single song on all of these albums speaks VOLUMES about the universe in Adventure Time and how carefully crafted they all are to reflect the emotions and tone. (Sorry if I am reading into it too much lmao this show and these tunes resonate with my soul a bit *too* much) Time to throw all 3 in a playlist on loop for the rest of forever. Love you OSC

Thank you for your kind words, glad you like the albums. And no need to apologise; you're not reading too much into things... Every song on all the Ambient Time albums is carefully constructed with its respective episode/character/location in mind. Sometimes this can be a little abstract, as I'm attempting to capture colours and moods with sonic textures, melodies and harmonies, but on the whole, AT is pretty abstract and big fans of the show are probably well placed to *get* where I'm coming from (as I'm also a big, big, big fan of the show - in case you couldn't tell 😆).

ANOTHER ONE????? LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOYS!! NEW AMBIENT TIME JUST DROPPED! I love these so much. Adventure Time is one of my all time favorite cartoons, it matured and deepened its elements as I did. It was silly and childish to the extreme when I was a goofball know-nothing little kid, and ended with a lore-driven war as I got ready to go to college. The world just feels like home to me, because I grew up with it. These ambients capture that feeling. Thank you for making them.
@opusscience3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Glad you like the albums so much. And yeah, the way the show matures as Finn does is fantastic writing. Despite being wild and surreal, it's incredibly grounded and relatable, as beneath the fantastical settings and characters is a story of what it means to be alive, to live, to love, to lose, to have friendships, to lose friendships and so on. It's an incredible work of art. Hard to believe such a thing masquerades as a kids cartoon 😆.

You couldnt have described the feeling that both the show and these ambients make me feel. When I try to describe my love for this show I always talk about the progression of the characters within the show but never thought about the fact that I too was progressing along with the same path. The elements of childhood and blindness when I first discovered the show which then led to be developing deep connections with these characters and watching the milestones and lessons within the show that I was still trying to understand within my own life. I like to channel that feeling the show has brought me throughout all these years by turn to these ambients to capture that feeling again. and with that I just want to say thank you OSC. Your videos have gotten me through many assignments, naps, and other great times.

@@ExtendoCrescendo Yes, it creeps up on you doesn't it. I came to it, already as an adult. My son was watching it and I got drawn into it's depth and complexity. All things that were going over his head (consciously) but now that he's going through puberty, a lot of meaningful discussions can be had about growing older, and relating it back to things Finn went through. It's such a magical show. Even as an adult, I found it helped me come to terms with certain things that had happening in my life, mistakes I made in my youth and that sort of thing. It truly is the most well crafted, caring and considerate show ever created with the most compelling life lessons.

Hey it's that guy listening to all of these, still working my way through. For whatever reason I had a hard time finding my footing on here just kept ambiently listening and feeling like I forgot half of it and went back. First two songs are a real nice start, the first one is so bouncy and they both feel peaceful and pleasant. I feel like the rest of this album is a mix of the middle being sort of weird sounding songs, then the last chunk are sad/spooky songs. I feel like the first album is still my favorite but glad I got plenty more of these to go!

"Inside a Sword" sort of sounds (to me) like a wanderer that has strayed a little too deep into the dark woods and has since stirred and piqued the interest of an ancient being far too large and too far away concealed amongst the trees to be fully comprehended. And that with every small sound the wanderer makes, the being attempts to edge closer to the source but never reaches it, leaving the wanderer with a looming sense of dread that never comes to be and a morbid curiosity that will never be answered. The imagery it created for me mightn't have been adventure time related, but it was so stinkin' cool and I loved the piece very very much. Thank you for making these!!

Third time's the charm! Games Bookstore: This sounds so sweet and cosy! I love the the game 8-bit sound and the bell. This feels to me more like a quite country cafe, that sells books and games. (Great combo, now I need some tea....) It's OK to Be a Breeze: Calm but melancholy. Like there's a beauty in the quiet stillness of the moment but perhaps a feeling that things aren't going anywhere. But maybe it isn't all bad....because we can appreciate those moments of calm. You Married a Dog, Dude!: Welcome back to another episode of failed princess kidnapping attempt No.996. A somewhat sad organ for a disappointed groom, but with a shred of hopefullness too. There's always next time I suppose....or tommorow Gunther! A Frog With a Crown: This is adorable actually. The soft melody box makes it feel like a child's fairytale. (Frog Prince being the first thing that came into my head reading that title.) Really relaxing....zzzzzzz.... Inside a Sword: Gives a similar ominous "stuck in time feeling" as Egress. Also the creaking and occasional rustling make it sound like we're in a strange, warped version of the Treehouse. A place that should be safe and welcoming now feels.... *off* (The tree creaking sounds gave me flashbacks to Tree of Life: Trunk from Pokèmon) Moon Lady: How beautiful and graceful. I can imagine the moon lady descending from the sky and walking on the sea to the shore on a starlit night. Very majestic. Like 800 Years Ago: Well this is..... a little unnerving. And those ticking sounds aren't helping, great way of conveying how long the Earth basically came to a stagnant standstill after the war ended. It feels almost alien, the planet left in ruins, the human population barely a fragment of what it once was, and the beginnings of a strange new world slowly starting to take place..... (Off topic but those synth noises in the background reminds me of John Carpenter's The Thing.) Inside a Crown: The second I heard that note at 36:55, my heart snapped faster than Simon's mental state. Golly, 7 years later and this song still breaks me. Let's also take a moment to appreciate the beginning. We get that similar "stuck in time" sense as Inside a Sword but instead of being really ominous, it feels more still. Like we're lost, maybe dazed. Then the first note plays, slow at first before gaining momentum, as if recalling something. Then it fully kicks in as we, or rather Simon actually, remembers the past. He's not gone, just.....waiting. Hope is not lost yet. I believe there has been a mistake. You've made three masterpieces of ambience albums and you *don't even have 5k subscribers?* We must remedy this immediately, this is unacceptable!!! Thank you, this was a joy to listen to. 😊👍🏻 Favourites were Games Bookstore, Moon Lady and Inside a Crown.
@opusscience3 жыл бұрын
Haha! I love your breakdown/analysis/interpretation. It's great to get insight and feedback like this, and glad you enjoyed this one too. Frog with a Crown is inspired by the Frog Seasons shorts. They weren't part of the main show, but fun, little side-notes that aired on CN. I believe that's where we first met (Together Again spoiler Alert!) Life. Inside a sword, that little rustle/creaking/insect sound you mention is kinda intended to represent the impending threat of the grass demon. Like I imagined him scuttling around and tried to incorporate that in there, along with what it might sound like when there are all sorts of rumbles and thuds going on outside. Where I work, there's construction going on next door and I hear deep, low, thumps and rumbles at times, through the walls. It's an attempt to capture that essence. Like 800 Years Ago is in some ways a sibling to the Lich's Lair from the first album and there's another sibling track coming on the album after Heroines & Homies. I'll be interested to see if you catch which one it is (although I think you will). And yes, Inside a Crown and Inside a Sword are thematically linked. One having a less hopeful somewhat more doomed fate (Fern), whilst there's light to be found and hope for the future in the other one (Simon). After all, Simon's In There, Somewhere... 😉 (and yes, this is also a companion piece of sorts to the first album's penultimate song). Anyway, love your analysis and I'll be interested to read what you think of Heroines & Homies when it releases on 4th October. As for the subscriber count... I dunno... I'm not very good at the whole "gaming the algorithm" thing. I neither really understand, nor care enough to try 😆 . I guess, if people like it, subscribe, interact, etc... that all helps and a little social media sharing and word of mouth probably goes a long way in helping too. So if you know anyone else who you think would enjoy my stuff, by all means point them my way 😊 .
@absolite63 жыл бұрын
@@opusscience Ah ok, it's been so long since I'd seen the Frog Season shorts. (Though first time I saw Life was in the short The Gift That Reaps Giving.) Speaking of forgetting things, how did I forget my boy Fern! I was so busy focusing on the Fin sword itself that I totally neglected to mention the grass sword. I suppose the grass demon could even be attempting to replicate and mimic things it hears (or sees?) outside within the sword, like Fin and Jake's treehouse in an attempt to feel at home with it's host.....maybe. (I course we know something is *very* off here.) The scuttling and creaking definitely added to the uneasy atmosphere. (Similar to Tree of Life: Trunk conveying the creaking wood of a dying tree.)

I find anything to do Marcy really heavy and engaging as her back story is amazingly powerful. I adore BMO. I think Finn's a legend, especially as he gets older. Later PB, after she learns to chill out, after the whole One True King of Ooo debacle, is super cool and seems like she'd be fun to hang out with. I love Lady's sass, later Cinnamon Bun is a cool dude. Prismo is a legend... I could go on. But I think I resonate most with Jake and Simon/Ice King. I see elements of myself in both of their characters at times. Who your favourite?

@@amandatucker4643 Hell yeah! They're legends. FP's evolution from hot-headed (no pun intended) to mature, self assured and wise is really well written. As for Marcy and PB's relationship... ah... that one got me in the feels big time. So much pain, hurt, baggage, etc. To overcome it all the way they do is masterful story telling. Plus, it's just so great to see that sort of a representation on a "kids show". Really significant and truthful messaging about family being what YOU make/choose it to be, regardless of anything else. I imagine a lot of young viewers felt validated, liberated, emboldened and more self confident as a result of that story arc. It's truly wonderful stuff.

It's: Intro (which is also the B-Section): F | F | G | G/A (to make an A minor 7 with 9 and 11 - it's a pretty, lush voicing) x3 F | F | G | Ab Ab/Bb or Bb (whatever you feel like playing really) A-Section (or verse, if you like): C | C | F | F C/E | C/E | Dm7 | Dm7/G (or a G7, which ever you prefer) A-Section repeats and then there's the B-section/chorus (which is the same as intro). Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know if there's anything else you need help figuring out.

🤣My other half will love this! Okay, so... hot take: I don't really GET Radiohead... I mean, I can understand that what they do is clever and sophisticated, and a great many people love them, but it just doesn't speak to me, and I've never enjoyed their music. I don't dislike it. I'm completely neutral about them. My wife however, LOVES Radiohead and it's always been point of playful arguments between us. So, having one of my listeners directly compare and cite my music in relation to Radiohead will make her laugh a lot 😆. I just checked the song you mean, and there are indeed similarities in sound-design of the piano and so on. I can assure you however, any similarity is purely coincidental and definitely not intentional 😆. FYI: My piece of music in question here is based "Manlorette Party" from the episode "When Wedding Bells Thaw" (Season 1, Ep 17). If you give that a listen, I'm sure you'll see where I'm coming from. ☺

These albums have gotten in my recommended recently, and as a diehard Adventure Time fan, this brings me joy and a bit of tears =)) I was wondering, is this music available for recreational use? Like using it as background music for videos or something like that
@opusscience Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. Glad you like my music. If you wish to use these in your own KZbin videos, provided you don't just re-upload the music in its entirety, and instead use it as sound-bed or background music, that's fine.

@@GatunoDeBotas Awesome. Thanks. I think you're now the third or fourth who's requested to use music from Ambient Time for D&D stuff. I must have tapped into something I wasn't aware of ☺.

@@opusscience it is quite ironic, because Adventure Time had most of its writers and directors think about what would happen in an episode based on things that would probably happen in an D&D campaigns, because most of them wanted to play D&D but can't because of time issues, look it up sometime, its really cool

Hi Asuna, provided your videos are not rips and re-uploads and/or posting anything in support of hate/discrimination/anti-vax/anti-abortion, I don't really have a problem with you using music from Ambient Time in your videos. I would appreciate accreditation and a link in the description though 😊

Nice! I've not watched it, but I hear good things (about the anime, at least, apparently the live action doesn't live up to the animation).
