Inspired by the inspiring true story of a man, alone in the world, searching for a way out, and the woman, who gave everything to help him navigate the dangerous waters of his soul, in a world of chaos and beauty, and forever undying love and brutal violence, that threatened to destroy everything he gave his whole life to create, because it was all he had to live for.

Yes, of course, but relax: the previous message wasn't insulting. All people who are not native English-speakers know that their language is not spoken by everyone in the world. But coming from a show with a staff, writers, technicians ... it's a little disappointing to see that they didn't take the time/effort necessary to make Seth Meyers pronounce a single sentence right.

I think there's a good chance Moonlight will win, which I think it deserves (although I wish Elle was nominated). Only other nominated film I've seen was Arrival, and maybe it was because I knew the script beforehand, but I thought that was pretty cheesy. I wanted to like it but meh. Not sure how some of these films get nominated.

"That weird independent movie theater one town over that's always about to go out of business." - Literally describes the independent theater I go to. If it was not for middle-age and elderly women, that place would go out of business.

Won't be complete without a 6 thousand word essay entirely on how the protagonists balloon foot first popped and then slowly deflated and how that seemingly non-sensical sequence of events perfectly mirrors the destruction of thier character

Not gonna lie though, “balloonfoot” seems like the type of central conflict that either a new on the scene indie film maker who seems sweet but does NOT do press tours or a well-known hollywood filmmaker bored of their own industry’s conventions who decides to subvert their genre and surprises everyone with it would base a film around. Like, its this absurdist black-comedy kind of thing wherein you either think its absolute nonsense or you think its absolute genius and anyone who sees it as otherwise just don’t like to THINK when they watch MOVIES, or something. And their main actor has been in stuff before, and we’re all getting to the point where we know who they are by name, but when they start doing the press junket for “Balloonfoot” you’re stuck there watching an interview thinking that they seem self-aware and mature enough to get that the concept is funny, but they are also going to lengths to describe how its not just about some guy with a balloon for a foot and thematically its about taking the fragility of day-to-day living for granted, and in the back of your mind you can’t help but wonder whether this 20-something year old actor is gonna end up being a well-adjusted, if eccentric and sensitive, artist in their field or if they’re gonna go off the fucking deep end and no one is going to know day to day what parts of their public life are performance art and what parts are a cry for help + an undiagnosed personality disorder handled poorly by friends & family. Its got a 7.0 on IMDB, which leaves one just as on the fence about watching it as they were before looking it up.

This movie also offers meta-commentary on Hollywood. And/or showbiz. The main character was talent, an up-and-coming actor who lost his career and his family when balloon foot struck.
