@@JuanSilva-ym9pf This makes me sad. I love languages, all of them. When English isn't a person's first language it means they learned it. No matter how grammatically incorrect or misspelled words are, they are speaking English. Just because us ignorant people who just speak one expect everyone else to speak English, that is it, and as "perfectly" as me. I wish more than anything that world languages were taught to the youth in this country. Seriously imagine kids growing up with multiple languages, first through 6th learning languages, high school could be elective ones. But by the time people go to high school chances are people will know or at least understand one or more languages. Making it easier to learn, there is more understanding, which we in the U.S. obviously lack. I see this all of the time in video games. I mean I had to explain to a person on overwatch that they are on The Americas server not "America's" server... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americas You know, Americas where everyone in The Americas is American but the U.S. holds onto it like a shield. Nope the people in The ((United States)) OF America are the only ones allowed to be called Americans as so proclaimed by the self proclaimed only "Americans"..... I did not miss the point of this. This was just a response to a personal experience that occurs over and over. Not an exact statement towards theirs. Had to clarify because apparently everything has to be pointed at someone?

Danica Jekic what movies you watched I am genuinely interested. I am not a huge fan of green book but shape of water didn’t deserve it at all even if you take away fish sex and “white man bad” take on racism (which is even worse than green book) it’s just not good. Green book at least competent with amazing performances and at least it says that we can get along. Basically shape of water just lowered the bar for me.

Don’t get pissed at people for having different opinions than you. Not everyone has to have the same mindset as you. You may have loved Black Panther, while I hated it. The reason I hated BP was I felt like it was literally just Lion King with horrible CGI. The writing felt sloppy, and not to mention the cringe, cliche for Marvel having a corny as hell joke during or after a serious moment, ruining any emotion or level of intensity. Hell tbh I hate all the MCU movies, not even a fan of Infinity War. At least it ended on a depressing note, which was a big change. Either way, don’t bash people for having a different mindset

"Oh- they're trying to cram a message!" "Oh- the SJW's are at it again!" It drives me nuts how accurate that statement of not testing well with audiences is. If it's an interracial couple, it's usually a white man with a black woman... and *seldom* a white woman with a black man. Hell, the Cheerios commercial where a child with a white mom and a black dad pouring the cereal over her dad's heart while the dad napped because she was told it was good for hearts got such an outraged reaction because it was an interracial couple with a mixed race child. Even in porn, and this is really disgusting, white women who shoot with black men will often end up getting paid less in the future because of it... in porn... The world has a very very very long way to go to get remotely near actual equality.
@iammar11595 жыл бұрын
eventhorizon Really? Are you sure? Because I see THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Look at most of the black male celebrities and athletes. Most of them have white wives. In porn the interracial section is mainly black guys with white women, barely black girls and white guys. At least the ones with black guys and white girls are the ones that get pushed the most. Even in real life, there are more black men dating and marrying white women than white men and black women 🙄🙄.
@DarlingNikki25 жыл бұрын
@@iammar1159 I have to agree with everything you said. I didn't really see the Black woman/White man pairings take off in the media until Scandal came on the scene and there was plenty of water-cooler chatter about it (mostly Black men seething about Black women liked White men solely because of their systematic power, prestige, and privilege). I do wonder if Olivia had been paired up with some random White dude outside of the DC power circle if the show would've done half as well. I also agree with the porn thing because Black men have been cast in that Mandingo Man role since time immemorial and it does seem like nearly every Black male celeb/athlete 'trades-up' to White women (or Asian) when they make it big. Of course, when a Black woman does the same thing and marries a powerful, wealthy White man, she's a 'bed-wench' instead of being a woman who looks out for her own interests. 🙄

What you are suggesting is the group most powerless in a system forced upon them (identifying race in terms that it is currently used), has the power to somehow fix the system forced upon them by simply claiming to not believe in race. See how dumb that sounds? Blacks can only work within the system that was created and never stopped thriving since the beginning of exporting white supremacy. No matter what a dark skinned person says, their skins color will always be seen. It is THE first thing seen.

In my freshman year of high school (2013) we had to watch Freedom Writers in my English class. At the time, I remember thinking “I guess it was good, but something about it doesn’t sit right”. I felt bad about being annoyed by the hokey dialogue and the main teacher’s attitude, because it was an important movie, right? Everyone else in my class loved it (it was a predominately white & republican school), and I chalked it up to me being to cynical and a bit of a film snob (I was 15 and just getting into films that were “dark” and “edgy”). Then in 2019 Green Book beat BlacKkKlansman and I was like “Oh I think I get it now”

May just be my opinion on Freedom Writers but that movie was about being brave enough to stand up and saying something is wrong, like when that elder Austrian woman (who hid Anne Frank) came to speak. The core of the movie is in what she said about knowing it was the right thing to do and facing down a death sentence in order to see it done. The teacher's role woulda fit a black person just as well except it was based on true events and the teacher happened to be a white woman. Unlike, Greenbook, where seemingly the black guy couldn't've done anything without a white guy present.

To be fair, the Help movie is a mild example as the black women actually are the stars. Its just the book was written entirely by a white lady making stories up without much research and ignoring lots of real issues they faced (plus racking up all the dough for it).

@@CT_Phipps Nothing is fair about the entire thing lol. All the reasons you stated are all the reasons and are the things I don't like about the movie, or any movie like it. I'm a black woman living in the south and I knew black women that lived and worked in this time as housekeepers....this movie is so far off and just insulting. The white savior part is the entire movie....written by a white woman about a white woman who "saves" black women by telling their stories. The black women may be in the forefront of the movie but it's dripping in white savior lol. White lady..."I'm here to tell your stories, without me no one will hear them...I'm here to save you and your history." Black ladies..."why sho, you is so smart, tank ya, missy."
