Although he still should’ve won. punch stats don’t lie, he landed more punches than his opponent. Although I am a huge fan of the sport of Boxing, it’s one of the few sports where a judge can score a contest one way and a different judge can score it completely differently. The only guaranteed victory in professional boxing is a knockout of your opponent

Tito had nothing for Oscar that night except in the middle rounds where Tito did get the upper hand but definitely not enough to win, Oscar been nailing Tito way more then Tito to Oscar. Those last couple rounds Oscar should’ve secured the rounds (like MMA championship rounds) but he didn’t, he was overconfident he had won. Anyhow the fight was left to judges and they gave it to Tito. Oscar beat Tito it was a robbery by the judges but it’s ALL Oscar’s fault for sure sure He should’ve finished the last couple rounds strong and not dance around the ring to only hit Tito in the last 7 seconds of those rounds

Bullish!t he gassed out. And Trinidad has the best endurance of anyone of those guys. Mosley. Floyd. You name it. Yes he was winning. But he was very VERY careful with the left hook. He felt it a few times through the gloves. He knew if he kept the tempo he had he would come to a complete stop kinda like Tyson vs Jake. No gas no nothing. He wasn’t boxing. He was trying to not get KO’d and Trinidad never gave up. He might have won barely against Floyd but it was similar. Dominant just past first half and then stamina going down. His biggest weakness was always stamina. He actually almost KO’d Floyd right when the 12 round bell sounded. Oscar was good. Beyond good. But he lost that fight fair and square and on a rematch the same would happen or he’d get anxious and KO’d. He never worked on his stamina like that. And he wasn’t about to start. If he had the stamina of Floyd or Tito, he would’ve won the fight by like 4 points. I can’t wait to meet him one day and call him out and respectfully confront him about it. I’m an elite athlete. Olympic. Joined the Marines and had the highest physical fitness score in the Marines and out of the entire US military. I know what I’m saying. He lost!

Yeah… he gave Trinidad a boxing lesson. And something no one talks about…in this period Trinidad had loaded gloves. That’s why he was stretching people. His wraps were illegal. Hopkins exposed that finally and suddenly Trinidad was ordinary. Up to that point he had stepped up in weight and killed people. Oscar was in with that Trinidad…you have to remember that. The only fight I had Oscar loosing on was the Whitaker fight. To me he was out boxed. But he did land a significant amount more power punches, and if I recall right put Sweet pea down…so I could kind of see it. It was hard to take a champs belt on jabs in those days…and I think that’s fair. One could argue Willie Pep I guess. But all that said…Oscar win this fight…which included him hurting Trinidad and making him do the Michael Jackson up on two toes thing. Trinidad had no moments like that. Considering the danger in this fight, I kinda agree with Tyson.

I believe that if De La Hoya stood his ground in the final round he would have gotten the W. I expected him to be aggressive last round but he kept running. I wanted him to win by knockout. Oscar said it himself here, he messed up in the last few rounds. Delahoya said he boxed to much, but he did'nt do that the last several rounds, the last several rounds he actually ran to much which in turn gave Trinidad the fight. .....and lets be real, to run from a fighter in the late rounds is because you're feeling the power and feeling the pressure. Oscar could have made the rematch happen anytime as being the face of boxing was the fighter that could make it happen, but he chose not to make it happen and I blame him solely on that, not Trinidad.
