I'm Still Here is a Brazilian movie, it is the first brazilian movie ever to be nominated for Best Picture. You could clearly see the vision of why she has high changes to win BA now, if you weren't that biased.

I think Fernanda Torres is a legitimate threat to win, thanks to that shocking Best Picture nom. This is the 2nd year IN A ROW that we have had multiple non-English language movies make the lineup (last year saw 3 (THE ZONE OF INTEREST, ANATOMY OF A FALL, and PAST LIVES) while this year saw 2 (EMILIA PEREZ and I'M STILL HERE)). EMILIA PEREZ also broke the record as the most nominated non-English language film of all time (13 nominations), surpassing 10-time nominees ROMA and CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON.

Actually EVERY SINGLE Best Actress nominee is from a Best Picture contender this year. Mikey Madison still has a shot since ANORA is one of only 3 films to be nominated for Editing, Screenplay, Directing, and Picture (usually a Best Picture winner needs all 4 noms) with the other 2 being EMILIA PEREZ and THE BRUTALIST, and Mikey could still win as part of the Best Picture package.

The Substance not only got Picture, but Director, Screenplay and Makeup. Demi is winning. 😉

I really want some of those Emilia Perez nominations to be given elsewhere, ie best actress to Kidman, score to Challengers, A Real Pain or Sing Sing in Best Picture, etc. The Saldana nomination is the only one I feel good about, because she does a great job with what she's given. It's just not a good film (and that's what I thought before I found out how offensive it is to Mexican and Trans communities). This is people trying to be PC with the wrong film and it's definitely not going to age well, in my opinion.

I'm so sad about the snubs for Clarence Maclin and "Sing Sing." A24 really screwed this release up. Clarence even threatened to steal scenes away from the wonderful Coleman Domingo. There aren't many years where my favorite film of the year didn't get an Oscar nod, but this was one of them.

At best for challengers it got snubbed for original score but the rest I never thought it got snubbed. Nickel Boys got snubbed for Best Cinematography and Emilia Perez severely overperformed, deserved almost no nominations and Emilia Perez will be remembered with more scorn than Crash, Driving Miss Daisy, and Green Book in the years to come

I told you guys. NO WAY Fernanda Torres would be snubbed. All GG Drama actress winners have turned out into Oscar best actress noms, except Shirley Maclaine in 1989 (this was a 3 way tie at the GG) and 2009 Kate Winslet for Recolutionary Road (She was nominated at the Oscar for the Reader)

Ariana Grande is likely out of contention for the win, as is the film likewise for Picture. The Picture one is because it missed in BOTH Screenplay and Director (you need at least a Screenplay nomination to win Picture) and any film with 12 or more nominations (with one exception) always won at least 1 above-the-line category (EMILIA PEREZ has 13), which means Saldana is all but assured the win now. I think WICKED wins Production Design and Costume Design (with an outside shot in Sound) and that's it.

About Best Actress: Fernanda Torres is my pick, not only because she's Brazilian, but because of her enormous talent and her portrayal of Eunice Paiva. She has the greatest range of all the performers. (Cynthia can sing, yes, but acting-wise? Fernanda is above all of them, especially in drama and comedy. None of them could ever play characters like Fátima or Vani, so...). Demi is fantastic-I love her as a person and actress. Her performance was great, truly great, but it’s difficult to compare the characters of Elizabeth and Eunice. One is reserved, while the other is explosive. Both have great charisma and draw a lot of attention, but that’s where it stops. Eunice lingers with you even after the movie, while Elizabeth vanishes... literally. Cynthia is incredible-I loved her in *Wicked*-but she’s still young and has other opportunities. Also, a sequel always feels incomplete if you don’t view both parts together. I’m sure the feeling of “wanting more” lingers, so maybe she can be nominated again for *Wicked 2* and possibly win. The same goes for Ariana (whom I really love). I hope she wins the SAG and BAFTA awards to upset Zoe Saldana’s shot at the Oscar, since *Emilia Perez* shouldn’t even be in contention. (That movie belongs in jail, not in awards season... LOL). Karla is perfect-really the best thing in her subpar film. I hope Hollywood offers her better roles because, in my heart, mind, and conscience, I’m sure *Emilia Perez* is utterly rotten. I hope it breaks *The Color Purple*’s record for being nominated and winning nothing. Mikey is lovely, and her performance in *Anora* was a "tour de force," but she’s also young and relatively new to the scene. If she avoids being burned alive again, I’m confident she’ll win incredible awards in the future. **The Race:** Torres and Moore already have the Golden Globes for drama and comedy, respectively. If Moore wins the SAG and BAFTA, her status as a frontrunner will be solidified. However, let’s not forget that the Oscars are known for surprises and upsets. Remember Glenn Close losing to Olivia Colman? Or Jennifer Lawrence winning the BAFTA but Lupita Nyong’o winning sag and oscar for *12 Years a Slave*? And who can forget Tilda Swinton winning her Oscar in a very competitive year or Dame Judi Dench beating the amazing Lynn Redgrave? Not to mention Marcia Gay Harden, Adrien Brody, and many other surprise winners. *I'm Still Here* is now being seen in America, and many Oscar voters will finally understand the hype around Fernanda’s Eunice. Anyway, I love your video! You’re awesome, handsome, intelligent, and I hope you become an Oscar voter someday. Amazing work, Brian!

Wicked getting 10 nominations is crazy. I was only predicting maybe 6-7. The nominations in VFX, Editing and Score shows the film is really well liked. I’d say it’s definitely Top 5 for a BP win, not saying it’ll win because it won’t but it’s definitely walking away with at least 2-3 wins

VFX and Score aren't surprising; of course they were going to jump at the chance to nominate a more prestigious movie that still has VFX content, and a musical is gonna be in Score no matter what and voters will want to recognise one of the most iconic musical scores, even though *technically* only the underscore is nominated. Editing is kinda random especially given that glaring cut in the diorama scene when they're suddenly standing up, but I guess musical numbers take a lot of tight and skilled editing- think of What Is This Feeling.

My heart is broken - and baffled - that "Sing Sing" didn't get nods for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. It's underperformed compared to its merits. But I'm very happy that Coleman and Ralph Fiennes are both in for Best Actor. The kind of performances they gave - the nuanced, deeply felt but subtle type - don't get enough Oscar recognition.
