Oscar. Great tutorial. I bought a surf ski hybrid from you at the NjUsa kayak show. It was several years ago when we actually had a show here. You showed me these techniques that day and been using them ever since. And good luck in your battle. I've been fighting a bladder cancer battle since last December. Things getting better with treatments. Good luck amigo. You're a warrior 💪

i will be taking this to the ski this afternoon and to my sea kayaking instruction this weekend. This is the stuff I wish someone had explained twenty years earlier in my paddling life.

The only video I’ve seen so far that goes into detail about the paddle not going past vertical. The one thing I was surprised by is that his arms are bent. Is that particular to sea kayaking? Because with a sprint kayak on flat water you have your arms straight right?

If you look at the best guys they are slowly bending their arms so that their elbows are lower avoiding shoulder problems. Remember they keep the bend angle the same throughout out the stroke, so that is the same as having a straight arm. Keep sharing 🙏

Hi Oscar, thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I have a few questions please if you get a chance to look at them: Does the forward paddling technique you have display need to be adapted when paddling in a sit-inside recreational kayak? I ask as the cockpit is a different shape the guidance I was given as a beginner is that we should be keeping our knees braced against the pads at the lateral-top part of the cockpit. Also, are you planning to do any workshops in the UK or can you recommend any instructors in the UK that offer training to specifically help me develop a consistent and efficient forward paddle? Either way, thank you for the advice you have already shared through these videos.

Yes 100% perfect for sea kayaking. Just get you knees together and loosen the back band. Yes the best would be Ivan Lawler. Hope that helps
