There are many ways of dumping coins to leave you clean. Look them up . If your friend says 'open your hand' before you've ditched it, just practice. Most of the time being challenged like that is down to sloppy technique.

The issue is that there are certain tricks that are very useful to entertain kids and not much more. Today's "commercial" tricks are so much more refined and complex that these aren't really as valuable as they used to be. Here's a tip for a quick dime: -Go to the public parks, set up a "magic stall" and perform coin magic. Attract a crowd and offer one of the spectators a chance to figure out your magic and if they fail, make a deal that they will give you one dime to a dollar for every trick they've failed to understand. Simple and easy money, right? (What happens when the spectator figures out your tricks is up to you)
