I hope you can see it soon, it's a very different performance from what we see being used as Oscar bait, it conveys a lot without resorting to heavy drama and when we see ourselves in the audience we become hostage to the situation with the character. I'm afraid she won't be nominated because it's a tough year for competition, but seeing a new face would be good.

Film has not been available for me to watch yet. The exact second I’m giving the chance to speak about it I will. At this point I know very little about it minus that some are prognosticating this film to be a contender

@@BenFriedman916 I believe it will only be released in January, here we are waiting for many of the competitors, I'm dying to see Anora, Emilia Pérez, Maria. Interestingly, they are all female names. here "I'm still here" is being a box office success, being in first place for 3 weeks and leaving Gladiator and Wicked behind in their debuts, this is surreal for Brazil, generally national cinema is left aside even here.

It is accurate to omit Willa Fitzgerald from predictions because she will not be nominated (except perhaps independent spirit) but there is no better performance so far in 2024. Every person who sees Strange Darling is left breathless by her performance but knows that it is just not the kind of movie that wins awards so you're probably not supposed to value this performance even though you will be thinking about it after forgetting some if these contenders ever existed.

Mikey Madison and Angelina Jolie sure seem like the ones to beat this year (at least so far). I actually thought Lee was fantastic and I wish it was getting more Oscar buzz than it is. At least for tech awards, if not performance.

I think Jolie is certainly getting nominated. Not so sure on the win. Film’s reception is soft, and the other 2 of his films following great historical women (Jackie and Spencer) got their leading ladies a nom but not a win. Plus Jolie already has an Oscar. I keep saying it but I think Erivo may be primed to make a run. Defying gravity alone (if they nail it) could be enough to catapult her to a real contender

I don't see Tilda as a strong contender anymore, I feel she is losing momentum and even support from Sony Classics (it seems their efforts are redirecting to Fernanda Torres). Karla I still have doubts if she is a lock since the general audience is not really into the film
