You should do a video on the Caucasus' linguistic diversity. Would be a contentious, but fascinating topic!

Could the next video be about the Balkan peninsula? It's such an underrated part of Europe geographically and has many interesting rivers and mountains.

Great video. Can’t wait for more in the series

I would have liked to see modern national borders and it is worth mentioning that this region is extraordinarily diverse linguistically.
@Oscopo4 ай бұрын
I made a conscious decision not to include national borders, in general I think that’s the right move, especially for the Caucasus, but I might revisit that in the future. I really want these videos to be completely apolitical

Ive been fascinated with the Caucasus since i was a wee bairn. So i think of the watershed as the Europe/Asia border. How many countries are officially on both aides
@Oscopo4 ай бұрын
The Georgian-Russian border follows the watershed very closely. While it’s probably true that Russia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan all have territory on both sides of the greater Caucasus watershed, Azerbaijan is the only one that has meaningful territory on both sides.

Does the entirety of the nation of Armenia(current border, not historical) fall on the Asian side of the watershed?
@Oscopo4 ай бұрын
The whole Republic of Armenia is situated in the Lesser Caucasus so yes it is all south of the Greater Caucasus watershed.
@FrithonaHrududu021274 ай бұрын
@@Oscopo Oh well Armenia, you had a good run as a European country. But Azerbaijan is partially north yes. So to be clear, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkey are all Transcontinental. This is a question that only tangentially relates but do you know if Big Diomede Island is on the North American Plate? I think so. Which would mean Russia is Tricontinental. Like Portugal (islands of Flores and Corvo are North American plate and Madeira is North African). My leg is broken so I'm really invested in this question.
@Oscopo4 ай бұрын
@@FrithonaHrududu02127 Haha, I hope you heal well. I don't know much about tectonics. But just based off of this wikipedia map: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Plate it looks as if actually a decent chunk of Siberia is on the North American Plate.
