Its awesome to hear stories like yours! it gives the mesage that if you really want it you can get it and really appreciate the great info. I would like to ask for some advice regarding the best way to approach a pentesting carrer, Im 32 (just in case that matters), have a few years in Operations as SRE and as Cloud consultant (with a really light idea of the devops way of work), im currently working as a GRC Analyst but I really want to switch to pentesting but im not really sure what would be a good knowledge path for that, my idea is to prepare for PNPT first and use it as a base for OSCP, between that I would like to prepare some automation stuff (Docker, Ansible, etc). Do you think this could be a good approach? I know this is something that takes a lot of study, but I want to avoid take any extra step before getting a pentesting job (mainly because of my age). Thanks for any tip/comment! (and sorry for any mispelling, english is not my first language)
@c0nd42 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think that sounds like a very reasonable approach. I haven't taken the PNPT, so I can't speak to anything about it. OSCP will certainly help in getting a pentesting job. I'd recommend practicing on a website like HTB a good amount before starting OSCP. The automation stuff can help you learn more about the operating systems you will be attacking, which can be super beneficial. It will take time to learn all of it, but don't get discouraged! Nothing good comes easy 😃. Keep learning and best of luck on your journey to becoming a pentester. Feel free to ping me if you need any pointers!

any way you can hint about the "gotcha" part that wasn't covered? Just so people can prepare for it and not go through the same thing

Congrats on the exam! Did you feel like the knowledge from the course was enough for the exam ? Failed on my last attempt with 7 flags 😅
@c0nd42 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I felt it was mostly enough. There was one thing in particular that wasn't covered that I encountered. I failed my first attempt as well with 8 flags. We probably got stuck in similar spots.

@@c0nd4 If I do not qualify for exam in 1st attempt can I retake the exam say after 3-4months something like that with 249$ retake fee. Or do I need to re-register again with 1499$ fee?
@c0nd42 жыл бұрын
If you want the labs you'll have to pay for an extension. But if you just want to take the exam again it's only the retake fee of $249. At least that's how I remember it 😄

@Conda Hi i have question. Do you familiar with PG on offensive security site? Is it worth to do preparing to osep?
@c0nd42 жыл бұрын
I haven't done anything on Proving Grounds, so I can't say for certain. From my understanding it's similar to HTB. I'm not sure anything on there will teach you the AV evasion and defense bypasses that OSEP focuses on.
@diskonnectthedj2 жыл бұрын
What training should I do before I even sign up for the course? For example with OSCP, people told me to complete THM, HTB, and TJ Null's list before even signing up for OSCP. How about for OSEP?
