People might hate Froome but this video shows why he’s probably one of the best riders cycling has ever seen. Even when he is down he is never out. I’ve watched him Throughout his entire career and he is never short of amazing
@danielgraham1907 Жыл бұрын
I’ve grown up watching him. He has won 4 tour de Frances, a soul outlet iconic. Cycling has never been the same since he crashed out of professional level. He is the most iconic face cycling has ever seen. It brought back tears seeing his wins and memories that I remember watching live. Cycling will never be the same 😢

Stage 19 is a once in a generation stage. Something you don't expect to see, something truly amazing and magical.
@osfan255 жыл бұрын
If you told people prior to the race that Chris Froome would be down down nearly three and a half minutes entering stage 19, I don't think any sane person would have predicted that he would win the race. I remember watching that stage and just texting my friend, "your not gonna believe what happened."

First to admit I wanted Froome to abandon after 8 days.....his handling skills were dreadful and the crash topped it off. What subsequently happened was one of the greatest spoting comebacks of all time, culminating in probably the best Grand Tour I've seen in my 53 years. Chapeau Chris, I'll NEVER write you off ever again.
@osfan256 жыл бұрын
roquefortaddict I haven’t been watching cycling nearly as long as you but I’ve never seen someone dominate the first two weeks of a race as much as Simon Yates did and end up losing. What Froome did was truly incredible.
@kaamran6 жыл бұрын
Stage 19 insane attack was definitely one of the greatest comebacks in any Grand Tour.
@osfan256 жыл бұрын
Leading up to that second rest day, I don't think anyone could have predicted Yates' demise and Froome's comeback.
@waybright19926 жыл бұрын
Well Nicolas Portal was asked on Restday 2 , who was the strongest competition to froome in week 3 and he said tom dumoulin !
@hegidaniel77246 жыл бұрын
as for right now, froome competition only on a good climber with great TT skill. those person are dumoulin,thomas and maybe roglic. those great climber with subpar TT skill like quintana,bardet,yates brother,uran don't have a chance to win unless froome get cracked badly
@Tim-K.6 жыл бұрын
Yes it was lucky but he probably felt how good his legs where and when he’s a little better than Dumoulin he’ll ll win a lot of time when he’s riding 1on1 with 80km to go so he was lucky that nobody helped Dumoulin or that somebody else would’ve came back (with a good team Dumoulin would’ve won the Giro and the Tour)

Giro 18 i think will be my favourite grand tour for a long time to come. It seems analogous to the movie Troy. So many great warriors fighting for their own reasons. Yates riding with his heart pinned to his sleeves, Tom with the never say die attitude and Froome as a man possesed. Such fierce competition between them to script their way into pages of history. So many memorable performances, its just so diificult to separate one from another.

Got to agree. In particular, in so many videos of this type the background music is intrusive and detracts from the whole. In contrast for this video the background music was subtle, yet added to the experience. Chapeau osfan25.

I've seen this at least half a dozen times now and it still gives me goosebumps. You've done a masterful job compiling this. The music is at set a pitch that lets it define the atmosphere yet it's not too loud to overpower the epic English commentary which sets the tone and really highlights the defining moments of this tour. Get shivers down my spine at 6:00 when we hear Yates say, "I really, gave absolutely everything" and the music increases in tempo - really emotional! What a brilliant Giro though ...... bravo especially to Simon Yates and Chris Froome! Absolute legends and without them this video wouldn't be possible!
@osfan256 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, that's quite the compliment. Whenever I would watch cycling videos on KZbin, they either have music and no commentary or commentary and no music. Like you said, having both sets an incredible atmosphere for the video. Audio tells as much of a story as video does. I would hope that a person could watch this video and only listen to the audio and still get a sense of how this race unfolded. Also it helps that this year's Giro was unlike any other grand tour in recent memory.

Simon Coombes Yates was racing as if the Giro was only two weeks long. By the time the third week rolled around he had nothing left. I think both Froome and Dumoulin could see the cracks beginning to form leading up to that point. Since this race, we’ve seen Yates take a much more conservative approach to Grand Tours.
