The defendant is a person who spends so much time and energy avoiding responsibility that he’s unable to hold down a job or parent his child or clean his home. He knows that he’s on TV or live stream, so he tries to create an aura of sympathy for himself as David versus Goliath when, in fact, the only persons I have any sympathy for whatsoever is his daughter, Judge, Simpson, and the plaintiff. One of the hardest things a trial attorney has to face is someone who is representing themselves. If you come down too hard too fast, you end up, creating an instinctive reaction in favor of the poor pro se. plaintiff counsel in this case did a very good job of holding back until it was very clear no undeserved sympathy was going to vest in the defendant. I watch way too many of these videos. I have to give props to Ms. Dornbush. I do not recall any uhms or likes in her statements, unlike many of the public defenders who use these all the time.
