HUGE props to Oshi for putting up this fight given the fucking gigantig gap in experience for that particular game. Oshi learned a lot since the match with IIPK, yet there's still many small things and some small things have huge consequences. One example is when Oshi punched through one column of bricks only to realize, that he needs to destroy both columns in order to enter the pipe and now has to restart. Another one is when he jumps to the flagpole which is 30% on the screen - hitting the jump, but falling to his death. Both times Ryu would have known and you really see on Oshis mimic that he's no robot on these, yet he shakes it off and keeps on fighting. On the other hand there's Ryu who has been playing 2D-Mario almost fulltime for 5 years+ playing both mm1 and mm2 from release, attending events, gaining world record after world record in mm1/2 levels and highly competed Rom hacks and creating countless levels in mm1, mm2 and even his own Romhacks.

@@charaleet6494 I agree, RIP GSA SMM2. hopefully the next format will be to the dragon's liking. Seems like it would have to be an ego thing or something. If he was too busy he could just show up for the tourney matches and see how it shakes out without much prep. The actual matches would only take a few hours, and can be done while live streaming anyway. Only issue is if he doesn't dedicate the time and focus to it he will not perform as well, but we've already established the level of RNG is very high for single elimination, so I don't think there's much of a street cred loss for losing the tourney, even in spectacular first round knock-out fashion. tldr, I will miss Ryu in this tourney greatly, but wish him luck in whatever he is working on.

I think after losing to Foxen he realised he wasn't gonna beat iipk again and pulled out. Bit strange to not like the format (his reason) after pretty much completing the whole thing... @phosphorus45 жыл бұрын
@@gcplayer9970 But…You don't have to "win" before the playoffs…Foxen would have nothing to do with winning the whole thing…
@xa51505 жыл бұрын
@@phosphorus4 It's just baseless assumptions and projecting. Supposedly, based on other comments, the format is somewhat different in the finals. Also, it could just as easily be issues with the significance of RNG, not believing that the scoring system is an accurate representation of skill/standings, a combination of both in that RNG becomes more significant with single elimination in the finals (further decreasing the ability for RNG/the odds to equal out), etc.Maybe he was excited at the beginning and it progressively became more lackluster and there are other life commitments that arose that he needed to take care of, which is more in line with what he said than what was said above. He gave a diplomatic reason and retained privacy of the specifics of his personal life other than saying he has a busy schedule and withdrew when it was least impactful to the competition. For some reason, people think they are owed more than that and disparage him, saying he is slapping fans in the face and disrespecting them by withdrawing or assigning traits, such as being a sore loser above, to him without justification. It's sad really. Shows more how they think than it reflects on Ryu.

I don’t think he’s staight up giving his spot to dansta... like i don’t think dansta is now #2, there are simply 7 players in the top 8 now, so there is enough space for the 9th guy to pass as well... so dansta did kinda earn it, as he still scored 9 🤷♀️ better than making a new guy that has never played pass

Can someone explain to me how this whole things works? How are points earned? What is the season vs the playoffs? etc. I love this series, but I dont get it at all.
@danieljacobs4465 жыл бұрын
1 point per match won (out of 3 matches). 1 extra point for winning the best 2 out of 3. As such, 3 rounds are always played even if one player already won 2 out of 3 to determine who gets the points. The playoffs begin after this. There are two divisions, A and B, with 12 players in each. The regular season determines which players progress to the playoffs, as only the top 8 from each division do so. It then goes Round of 16, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, Bronze match (semi finals loser's bracket), finals. The following is copied verbatim from the website: The top 8 from both Divisions advance from the Regular Season and are seeded Division A seed 1 is matched with Division B seed 8, Division A seed 2 with Division B seed 7, etc Bracket is single elimination Round of 16 and Quarter Final rounds are single matches of best of 5 games/races Semi Finals, Bronze and Grand Final matches are single matches of best of 7 games/races

@danieljacobs4465 жыл бұрын
@@FratNightGaming points do matter though, at least in determining who is in the top 8, as a win can be worth either 3 points for you and 1 for your competitor, or 4 for you and none for your competitor, and the standings in the top 8 are based on points, not wins.

I dont understand why ipk is in the lead when his results are tied with ryukahr??
@danieljacobs4465 жыл бұрын
You get points not just for wins and losses, but for each individual match won. 1 point per match won of of three and an additional point if you win at least 2 of the 3 matches, thereby beating you opponent. Iipk won more individual rounds.
@adamheeley2855 жыл бұрын
@@danieljacobs446 So like the total possible points per match could be 4?? 1 for the win and a possible 3 if they won every round?
@danieljacobs4465 жыл бұрын
@@adamheeley285 Yes, if you win a match, it means 1 of 2 things. The first is you swept and got 4 points, and the second is you won 2 out of 3 and got 3 points, while your opponent got 1 point.

Why isn't Ryu continuing to the playoffs???

He stated that "It's a mixture between a busy schedule and a lack of enthusiasm for the format."

Although in my opinion it's bad form to give up right before the finals
@xa51505 жыл бұрын
@@DeltaStorm27 In my opinion, with how the format is, that is actually the optimal point at which to do it where the impact is negligible. If he pulled out beforehand, some people would have faced him in that bracket, while others wouldn't have, meaning the difficulty and likelihood of obtaining points would have varied because the opponents would not have been consistent throughout. Easiest way to look at it is that the people who lost to him in the later games could've gotten points they otherwise did not get because Ryu stayed in, whereas the earlier opponents wouldn't have had that possibility. By pulling out before the finals, as opposed to during the finals, he does not impact the final standings in the same way. By leaving during the transition, they can just fill hit slot with the next highest ranking individual in the tournament, which the competitors can't complain about because they all underwent the same conditions. The only arguably better thing would've been to not participate at all, but sometimes you don't know how things will go or how much certain things will bother you until you've got some experience doing them (prime example: the divorce rate).

How come the commentary seems perfectly in sync but then the interview audio is so off?
@bl4ckfate9435 жыл бұрын
They take the competitors right of their streams so on video they got the delay of the streams and as soon as they go to the interview there is sill the delay of the streams but the voice comes from discord, so there is delay on video but not on sound anymore
