I know how much starting a family and your privacy means to you guys, and we're supporting you completely. ♥ You already know how I feel about it all, but to everyone else I want to say that KZbin isn't a life everyone wants to live forever. A lot of people are trying to come up with ways that Grace and Ryosuke can stay around in some aspect, which I totally understand, but also try to consider how they feel. KZbin is a very huge intrusion on your life, and even for people who plan on doing it as long as they can the constant oversharing and having every aspect of your existence noticed, commented on, and praised or criticized is a lot to deal with. Not everyone wants to be in the public eye forever. Wanting to have a private life with your kids isn't very possible when people are recognizing you on the street and sharing your address on the internet. Grace and Ryosuke aren't the first people I've seen leave the public eye to transition to a more private life, and I'm sure they won't be the last. It's a a big, personal decision, but it's theirs to make and it's important that if we actually care about them and their well-being to respect that decision and support them.

I've watched on and off for the last few months, and only recently subscribed. I've loved your videos; the content, the personality of the both of you, the love, the adventure, the sharing... I'm thankful for everything you've put out there. It's more than I could have asked for and provided education, entertainment, exploration, and emotion. You've made me smile so many times. So I have no idea why KZbin decided to all of a sudden promote this video like crazy (especially because our channel is basically a dead channel now). To everyone who got magically dragged here by KZbin's algorithm, SORRY! Go back to a more fun/interesting place on the internet.
@madladylina8 жыл бұрын
I just "landed" on your channel because of KZbin algorithm. This video is the first video that I watch here. And I think you're lovely and I have the same opinion as yours: I would not like to overshare my life if I have kids, because I would be sharing my children's life, and that's their life, their privacy, and they would not even know what is going on. And I would be sharing the lives of other people - people that are not me, people that can't decide for themselves if they WANT to be exposed on KZbin or not - and that doesn't sound right. I thought I was the only person in the World that had that opinion as yours. So I am happy that this video is a video that shows me I am not wrong for making the same choice as yours. Good luck with your life! :) I wish you all the best!

I am actually relieved, when I saw this video, I thought that you two were divorcing! I've seen so many KZbin couples splitting lately, I thought the same had happened to you guys. But instead I hear you guys are going to be having kids in the future and, therefore, leaving the internet. Sure, I'm sad to hear you guys leaving KZbin. You have provided me with a lot of information about Japan and what it's like being an American involved with the Japanese culture since I wish to do the same one day. And you guys have helped me learn a lot. But your choice is understandable. Having a family and being a regular KZbinr is extremely hard. I don't know how some people do it. Kids need all of your attention and if you don't want them seen online while vlogging, that's going near impossible. It's a sad, but understandable choice. No hard feelings from me! But I wish you guys the best! Your kids are going to be so adorable! I hope everything goes well for you two. :)

Especially when they want to start having a family, it is really the best to keep that off the internet. The internet can be a really really aweful place. There are people that will send you death threats for stating that oranges are better than apples. This is really not something that you want your kids to experience in the slightest. It's one of the most mature decisions that I could witness on KZbin. I am happy for them. Also as a small PSA: Keep your family off the internet - especially KZbin.

But they could just make videos without showing their kids. I 100% understand not wanting to show your kids but children sleep, parts where they appear can be cut out. I know it would be more of an effort and they would end up getting less videos done but having kids and not wanting to show them doesn't mean you must leave. I have seen many youtube channels of people that have children but don't show the children. If I were them, I'd just wait and see. She isn't even pregnant yet and they don't know how it'll be. Some people manage their hobbies while their kids sleep. I am online and my children have no online presence whatsoever.

I think its very admirable what they did. There are a lot of other youtubers that would've used the baby to get more views..put the baby in the thumbnail.. creating clickbait titles with the baby, but they care more about actual privacy and family time than they do KZbin. They don't post on any form of social media though really which is also pretty cool. There's definitely life outside of social media and these 2 prove that. I think there are many people on this platform that could learn a thing or 2 from this video.

Dear Grace and Ryosuke, I'm not someone who comments on video's I see, mainly because how a single comment tends to disappear in the mass. However, since this will be the last time you guys make a video about your lives or Japan/America for a long while at the very least, I would like to share that I completely agree with your views about your children appearing on youtube. People should never be forced to be visible on any social media. (I was going to limit this to people who are unable to grasp the consequences of that visibility, but I will not, people should never be forced, period.) Also, I would like to thank you for sharing your stories, lives and wisdom. I have loved to learn about Japan from you two. Who knows, maybe in about 16 years your children turn out to be equally happy to share about their lives as you are about yours. But untill then, I wish you the very best in life Patrick (The Netherlands)

Oh guys (meaning YOU, Grace & Ryosuke!),...like many, I saw the thumbnails and titles and feared the absolute worst, especially after a longer-than-usual "Texan in Tokyo" drought so, having finished the final "A Day in My Life", I was greatly relieved to see Ryo lovingly pecking at your face, per usual! Carry on with THAT forever! Secondly, I watched your final three videos at my office in Times Sq. before heading home. During my subway commute I felt truly bereft, as if dear friends were moving away! You really created something remarkable with your channel that was maybe larger than your original goals, that Grace recants in her "The End" video. Somehow, your magnetic love for one another, basic decency, humor, un-self consciousness, and very honest portrayal of your young lives took over and ran the show in a way that was extremely engaging, with Japan as the most beautiful backdrop! I don't have cable or Netflix, I have a few things that I go to regularly for fun or entertainment or eduction. You were one of them. Yet, I have enormous respect for the reasons you are leaving and I'm not surprised you chose them because of who you are. I know this doesn't come easily for you either! This was more than a little hobby for you both and it's incredibly brave and principled for you to make this decision. I love you. We ALL love you!!!. And thank you for taking us around, introducing us to your wonderful parents, and making us laugh and root for you in every way! May your temple book be filled, Grace!

I can't believe that it's been 3 and a half years ago. I've been watching the channel but when I watched this video, I was totally in a different place than where I am right now. I started university again after severe depression and didn't know what to do because my grandmother has passed away couple days ago. Watching this video made me feel like I needed to start my chapter in life, just like how Texan in Tokyo channel was going to start their own chapter. Now I'm married and pursuing Masters and no longer suffer from depression (I mean never gets bad, there's no cure for it lol...) Thanks Grace and Ryo-chan, I hope you guys are doing well also

I just got into your channel about three months ago, so I'm glad I discovered you in time, and I even managed to buy signed copies of all of your great books. Thank your for all of the great content, you've given us and good luck in the future to the both of you.

I'm shocked how selfish people are being. Don't argue why/how they could stay. Don't you think they already considered those possibilities when they made such a big decision? KZbin creators are people who are nice enough to let us look in on their lives. Be happy they gave us such a heartfelt goodbye.
@justicewindle54748 жыл бұрын
BohemianScandalous I totally agree. Its really rude too when people talk about money
@jensgoerke28638 жыл бұрын
They are making a conscious and responsible decision and I somehow hope for them to put out the odd video now and then if and when they feel like it and agree on a specific event/occasion/video to be worth sharing while still respecting everybody else's privacy. They've been allowing us glimpses into their lives and earned their places in our hearts. Those places will still be there, whatever they do.
@Aiken_Drum8 жыл бұрын
As I just posted in my own thread, they have to do what's right and I wish them well. At the same time, allow that some viewers may have formed strong attachments to them and may actually be going through a little bit of the stages of grieving for a sudden loss of something that made them happy, including denial and bargaining. Grace and Ryosuke are adults, not to mention compassionate, and I suspect they probably understand this. Just let everyone feel how they feel on both sides of the screen, I think.
@ArgentumEmperio8 жыл бұрын
No it wouldn't have. They have chosen to share a part of their life with us and now they are, at the very least temporarily, ending it. Leaving it like that with no reason or anything of any kind would be... cheap. It wouldn't be fair to the people who watched this channel for the longest time. It is still their decision to take this step but to leave people behind who have been with them all of the way? There isn't anything worse than a bad ending to a story, as that can ruin everything. That remains true here.
@backtogeek8 жыл бұрын
Sure, valid point, but keep in mind it does not come from a bad place, people only offer possible thoughts and ideas from their own perspective, it is supposed to be complimentary and supportive, I understand why people say its selfish, personally I think its pretty rude for you to say that but I am sure you did not intend to be, not everyone thinks the same way, life would be boring i we did.

To be honest I cried a little. Not sad per say, I'm actually rather happy for you, but I'm surprised at how much I'm going to miss your videos. I'm a recent viewer, who does not comment; pretty much EVER, but I've really enjoyed your adventures and the glimpses you both have graciously allowed into your lives. I cheered you on in your ninja warrior screenshots. I've watched the changes in your lives, especially the move to your current place as it coincided with my own move in life, and it has been really nice to grow with you - even if we've never met and you don't know me personally. I felt the need to come and say good bye. Even if it's not forever, it will be for the foreseeable future. The reason for it doesn't matter. I do not feel like you owe us an explanation. I am incredibly grateful that you gave us one though, and it's for a great reason that's honestly no one's business but your own. Congratulations on the newest chapter of your life! I'm sure many of us would love to join you on it. That's a decision for you and Ryosuke, and if willpower and lack of consent is an issue, I praise your foresight. I wish you the best of luck in finding a job. I'm grateful that you're both still happily married (cause I worried for the worst, that you had both split up when I saw you both separately in your videos!!! /so much worry), that this isn't due to a disaster or anything terrible... but a happy reason. I hope this hasn't come out... patronizing?, but I'm really proud of you for sticking with what you both believe in, despite what anyone else may think. It's rather admirable. :) Farewell for now and good luck! You'll both be missed.

"There's a difference between over-sharing our own life and choosing to over-share someone else's life has no idea what's going on, who isn't capable of understanding what's going on because they're too little." Some people think online videos are just a convenient way to share their home videos with their extended family. What they're not considering is that The Internet is The Entire World. A public online video is a world-wide media publication. It's not just "a cool thing to do", every one has global consequences, even if those consequences aren't obvious. People you don't like have access to your public videos. People who don't like you have access to your public videos. Sane but disagreeable people have access to your public videos. Crazy people have access to your public videos. People you don't want near your children have access to your public videos. The worst people in the world have access to your public videos because The Entire World has access to your public videos. That is why I 100% agree, and support your decision. Good luck with everything!

I watch Ruti saan who is a Mexican woman living in Japan with her Japaese husband, and seeing their life and how they raise their children in a multicultural environment is very cool to watch. Of course, that is their choice and never show her husband's face, referring him to Don Sin Rostro (Translates to Sir without [a] face). Someone else, also a Mexican married to a Japanese man living in a Japanese, got threats toward her children. Since then she has stopped showing their faces. So while it is sad that Texan in Japan will no longer upload videos, their reason to stop is sensible and I wish them the best! Thanks for sharing what you did ❤ Also, good luck with your family!!!

Grace and Ryosuke- I started watching your channel when I was 16 and going through a huge obsession with all things Japan. I was trying to learn the language (something I'm still trying to accomplish) and even more so, trying to learn about the culture of Japan itself. So when I typed 'Japan' into KZbin one day and came across your channel title, 'Texan in Tokyo', I became so excited, because I was getting the chance to watch a fellow-Texan vlog about her life in Japan. I just thought that was the coolest thing, and went on to binge-watch all of your videos up until that point in the course of a day. And in that day, I came to love you guys as both individuals and together as a couple. And I don't know if that's weird or creepy (I really hope it's not, because that's not my intention!), but it's almost like I came to see you guys as a second pair of older siblings or friends- whatever you want to call it. And every time you would post a video, it would just make my day. And I want to thank you for that- for bringing me (all of us, actually) into your lives and in doing so, brightening ours. I'm 18 now, standing right between the crossroads of still being a kid and forming into an adult. And I don't know what the future holds, but I'm putting my best foot forward, just like I know you and Ryosuke will do- not only for yourselves, but for your future children. But one thing I know for sure is that I'm glad to have spent these last 2 years getting the chance to know you guys. You are both filled with such wonderful light and goodness that it can be seen even through a camera screen, and we all love you for it. I wish you all the best in the world, and all the happiness it has to offer. Thanks for the wonderful ride! Lots of love, -Nora.

And, also (I just scrolled the comments), please ignore those who are telling you that you've "made the wrong decision" or that "you owe us something" because neither thing is true. Your decision is correct for you and I think it's awesome that you're standing by your morals like this - too many people these days don't. And, you don't really owe any of your fans anything - why? Because as we've been your income, providing you the views that earn you your money, you guys in turn have been amazing, entertaining and educating us for free (as in we didn't have to pay for it) and so neither party really owes the other anything but thanks. So, thank you :)

I just discovered this channel today, you guys seemed like great youtubers. If I can be of any help or encouragement, hear me out. I absolutely support the decision you guys are making, and here's why: youtube can drain you if you're not careful. As a couple with no kids, you guys can manage to balance work, youtube, and your private life. But once you add kids, they will take a LOOOOT of your attention, and will become your primary focus in life once/if they come. Those that say you can raise kids while vlogging aren't taking into account that it doesn't work the same for every couple or family. Heck even some couples can't handle the regular vlogging without kids. Here's an example: many of us have heard or seen PrankVsPrank, a popular channel of this couple that makes pranks on themselves all the time, and they happened to have had a separate DAILY vlogging channel called BFvsGF. Long story short, after several years of being together, they broke off, ended their regular vlogging for some time and moved on to other interests. Their relationship kinda fell apart, although in recent videos, it seems that they were willing to keep vlogging occasionally and they are just friends now. But their main issue for breaking off is that the regular daily vlogging was draining them physically and emotionally, which leads me to suspect that they had forsaken the importance of giving each other attention. Also, Jesse wanted to continue filming and expanding his career, but I assume Jeana didn't want it so much. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I havent' kept up with their channel lately). Point is, you guys seem like a young couple and I wouldn't want you guys to forget what's more important. Spending plenty of time with each other. And if there will be kids, then with all more reason you guys should do that. I should know, for I'm getting married this summer, and if there's one thing I know is that you must prioritize family over anything. So if it means staying away from youtube, then so be it. I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run. Living a simplified way of life can be beneficial. Tune out all the negativity from some of the commenters (I'm looking at you "Drink me"!!) and do what you feel is right, for you, your spouse, and the kids that will come. Wish you both the best.

aquoslover200 you can do KZbin and not include your kids or family. Look at emmymadeinjapan - she's been on KZbin for years and not once have I seen her hub and kids on a video. So it can be done, but obviously these two have lost their passion for it. But it can be done just saying

Don't understand why people hate on this. It is totally the right choice and its their choice on top of it. Therefore there is nothing to hate here. Just make your decision and be happy with it. Maybe make a video somewhere in the future to tell the people of your channel how it is going.

Ok this is ridiculous. You obviously love what you do. I am a mom of 2 boys and yes I understand where you are coming from with the consent thing... but right now you have a job that affords you the ability to be with your husband and children. You are going to toss that away to go find a conventional job? Most mothers would kill for the opportunity you have here especially when there are so many viable options to continue. You are an amazing artist. You could make caricatures and superimpose them into the videos to cover the kids. Edit them out. As a mom who struggles back and forth with wanting to staying home with my kids, even though they are 12 and 9, or should I get a conventional job... your situation is the perfect balance...
@lala77018 жыл бұрын
Totally agree.
@McSquiddles8 жыл бұрын
Honestly I hate how people say she's tossing away an opportunity most people would kill for. If you're not in the situation, you don't have a right to say. It's her life, her decision, and if she decides it's not right for her, good for her. Why does it matter if other people want the job if you decide it's not right for you? So dumb. So dumb to bring up other people when it's not about other people. It's about them. It's not up to you to decide if she has the perfect balance. it's hers.
@kandyggurl8 жыл бұрын
Jaciemack I actually agree. id love to stay home with the kids all day. but maybe they might change their mind later on when one or 2 parent cannot be with the kid all day. My son loves the camera lol always has since 2 lol wishful thinking lol that they'll regret it lol
@lala77018 жыл бұрын
Right. I'm not here to decide for here or to even question her decision. Who am I to do that? But I actually follow Grace very closely for a few years now and even though I respect whatever she decides, I have to say admit If what she always said is true, this move is worrisome. Without having enough Japanese and other skills aside from writing for a few years in English, while having a husband without enough English skills (if they'll consider moving back to the US) quitting a successful job before making sure you have another "safe" one in your hands, moreover, having kids while being in this situation doesn't sound like the most smart thing to do...look, I'm more or less the age of Grace, it's not that I have tons of "life experiences" behind me, but that's the common sense in my book. Unless, of course, there's other information that we're not informed about. And that's even besides what I really don't understand which is - what quitting KZbin has to do with quitting writing blogs? to me it sounds more like they have came to the point that they no longer want to do that "Japan - thing" and kids are just an excuse, which is to totally legit, of course. Bottom line - we have to respect them, and we can still criticize, and give advices from our own lives, it's up to them whether to take it or ignore it.

Yeah, it's weird. She's not giving birth soon, she's not pregnant, doesn't have a job yet... She could keep making videos until she got pregnant or until she got a job. Hell, I'm sure videos about her job hunting would help a lot of people. They don't have to be as often as she uploads them now. If she makes money off of these videos, those few new ones could help her until she got a job. And while the babies are babies she can keep making videos....they're in the crib. They can't walk. lol She won't be making their life public. And she can make videos while the kids are away at school...avoiding putting them on video. She doesn't have to make public anything she doesn't want to.

+Tsuki pregnancy is more than you think! she could document her pregnancy and lose the baby, and I don't think she wants to risk doing all that and having that kind of business for the world to see. they are doing what is best for them and we just have to support and respect their decision. I'd love to see pregnant grace and proud dad ryosuke, but I know they need their time and space and I'm perfectly okay with that ♡
