Osho is right. He said he's playing a master because people want one. He's just a human being. A highly intellegent, highly educated, very wise, well spoken human being with whom desires nice things like many people do. He was extremely wealthy. Good for him. His talks, lectures, and books are a big inspiration. His philosophies and ways of thinking which were so unusual are now an accepted trend and evolution in society.

He was a cult leader. Listen carefully to what he’s saying, and it boils down to this: “You aren’t really my true friend/follower unless you accept everything I say. If you accept some things and not others, then you are still in control of your mind and judgment.” He’s drawing a line in the sand and basically shaming anyone who doesn’t listen to him totally and completely. This makes people instinctively want to “prove themselves” by saying: “Oh but I am a true friend! I will listen and accept everything you say! Not like those other people who aren’t true believers!” This is what a Master is - but notice how he cleverly does that psychological warfare trick, similar to reverse psychology, where he claims “I just want to be peoples friend, not master” and yet everything that he says after that is exactly how a “master” operates - manipulating people into unquestioning servitude.
