Ironically, he's selling the same b.s.. The idea that somehow there is some aspect of yourself that survives death is the basis for all religions. He's claiming that this "understanding" fixes this specific problem. It does not. It didn't for him. That much was obvious. He still experienced fear. A fear rooted in survival.

@@wthomas5697 Are you a living being when you are in deep sleep? Do you have your fundamental fear there? There must be some imagenation involved , because fear is a form of self defense . Even if that self is only a slight feeling . There must be some kind of I feeling or tought to defend. Otherwise what is there to defend. Who /what is there to survive .

@@zulteonka Thought is fear generated activity. We evolved to think in the effort to counteract fear. Fear of death is the essential problem here in this life. There is no "knowing one's self" that changes this basic fact. We imagine the future in the effort to game our survival. Our imagination is the result of fear, not the other way around. That's what you brain does, separates out what is good for survival from what is not. You aren't changing this by claiming "enlightenment".

@@wthomas5697 Nobody can claim enlightenment. Enlightenment is more like a spontaneous loosing of I feeling. So what you are saying , That our survival is a natural feeling or reflex or fundamental function, from that evolved fear. From that evolved thoughts and imagination? Maybe i am misinterpreting you. But what happens to that fundamental survival on deep sleep. Or even when you or a cat just fed up feeling safe and chill. Where does it go? If it's fundamental living it must be there all the time
