I was in Busan last summer. I loved staying in South Korea! Friendly and helpful people, everything was great, I liked the heavy raining as well. The rain is warm compared to when it's raining in Sweden.

Busan is the no.1 tourist city for Koreans as it is a very unique city in South Korea. it has all the dynasties, decades and regions of Korea. You can enjoy all historical places from all different dynasties in Korea, foods from all parts of Korea, architecture from different decades in modern Korea as well as so many mountains, 6 different beaches, a river and 2natural hot springs, all inside of the city. As it is located in the ancient Korean capital, Kyungju, it has all those historical places from the Shilla dynasty, the first unified dynasty in Korea, while Seoul has ones starting from the Chosun dynasty, the last dynasty in Korea. As it was the city not occupied by the North Korean military during the Korean war, the refugees from all parts of Korea had lived in Busan and that made fusion of Korean food from all parts of Korea and also different areas with different architectures. Some areas are still looking like the 1950's Korean war time while some areas look very futuristic. In addition, traditionally, Busan was a trade port for Korea and Japan and also a stop-over port from China to Japan. So, it has a Chinatown from old times and fusion with Korean, Japanese and Chinese food.

Busan has a much better climate, prettier with beautiful seascapes. When I was there in September and after three days of continuous rain arrived in sunny Busan which had a Mediterranean vibe.

@gdfhh-vk9ug You are not correct. What you are talking about it busanpo, which is small part of the current Busan. Current Busan is combined of Dongnae & Busanpo. Dongnae was the area where noble family was living with famous Dongnae castle while Busanpo was a small fishing village. Dongnae goes back to Shilla dynasty with famous Dongnae Hot Spring used by Kings of Shilla dynasty. Dongnae, Haeundae, Suyong, Geumjeong, Yonje and Nam districts of Busan used to be Dongnae. The reason why Busan is only city with Confucian shrine, Chungyeolsa for ancestors is due to Dongnae castle in Dongnae area. Beomosa, one of the most important Buddhist temple in Korea from Shilla dynasty and one of three Confucian shrine and only one located in a city, Chungyeolsa from Chosun dynasty are located in old Dongnae area. That's why all those Shilla & Chosun dynasty historic places are located in Dongnae area. And all those famous noble guys like Son Sang Hyun, Woo Chang Jun, and others are from Dongnae area. So, the current eastern part of Busan which used to be Dongae was for noble people from Shilla dynasty to Chosun dynasty. And the current western part of Busan, which used to be Busanpo was for working class of fisherman and farmers.

Fantastic vlog. I picked it was Haeundae immediately (b4 seeing the train & sky capsule, of which I also did just the train as the capsules were booked out) as I was there a few weeks ago. You are right that Busan is quite large & spread out, and each area is totally different e.g. The downtown & Chinatown area vs Haeundae. There are soooooo many different things to do & places to visit in Busan. Definitely do Busan in good weather. You will love it. P.S. You VPN'd to Alice Springs in Australia, a small town in the middle of nowhere :p

What a nice video! I love the city so much!! Which made me visit there again last week for the 3rd time this year. There was a Film Festival aka BIFF and the atmosphere was amazing. And I'm sorry to hear what you had to go through with the plastic cups.. Korea has a strong policy on using them. So if you want to stay in the place, get your drink in a mug or a glass and when you leave the place, you can simply ask them to pour your leftover drink to a plastic cup to go! I really enjoyed your video! Have a good weekend!

Better is subjective. I lived in Korea for 2 years, one in Gangneung in Gangwan-do and another in Seoul. I only passed through Busan to and from Japan (took the hydrofoil ferry as well to Fukuoka). Your video makes me want to give it a visit. But definitely not better than Seoul but has different things to offer like the beach and that hillside village.

I agree that going to a place for a second time is usually more enjoyable than the first time 'round, since you don't ''need'' to tick off all those tourist spots and can just relax. Kind of like having a curry and keeping leftovers for the next day and realising it tastes so much better once all the spices have been absorbed by the food (weirdest comparison ever, but that's just what came to my mind 🤣). Talking of food, I'd say the flavour of the Netherlands is definitely cheese. I can't think of a sweet flavour that's generally popular here, but on the savoury front, it's definitely cheese all the way. 😆

We went to Busan for a one day port call back in April 2016, and really enjoyed it, despite being there on the only rainy day of our 23 day trip through multiple Asian countries. The teeming rain didn't dampen our favorable impressions of Busan -- the colorful fish market (with only female fishmongers), lovely local people -- but it did thwart any attempts to go farther afield than the downtown area.

You can use google map in Korea but only the drive or public transport option. What I do is use the drive function, and use it to navigate the streets. I have come to realize this is the best option after trying to use the other crappy maps. The hybrid view on google maps helps to locate landmarks and building.

I think the encouragement of using reusable cups for coffee shops is a good thing. You criticized the coffee shop for not offering alternatives to dairy. Do they accept those?
