Specific setup for adv and trail riding. Note that some features like Contour and Hill Shading are only available with the paid version - OsmAnd Plus (Unlimited) A$29
Install OSMAND 0:53
Download 4 first maps 1:05
Enable track recording 1:41
Lower left Menu
Plugins → Trip Recording
Enable Motorcycle mode 1:50
Menu → Settings →
Enable Motorcycle mode
Disable others
Select from Map → Motorcycle 2:12
Setup Contour Lines and Terrain Shading 2:25
Favourite → enabled
Contour lines → enabled 2:24
Display starting at zoom level = 14
Colour scheme = dark brown
Contour line width = medium
Contour line density = medium
Terrain → enabled 3:02
Hillside selected
Transparency = 39% (default)
Zoom level min = 15
Zoom level max = 17 (default)
Map setup for best contrast 3:20
Under "Map rendering"
Map style → Desert
Map mode → Day
Map magnifier → 50%
Road style → Bold outline
Text style = 100%
Details → More details
Hide → Boundaries, Proposed objects
Camping information setup 4:43
Lower left menu → Configure screen
Quick Action → Enable
Add action → Show/hide POI → Category = Tourism
Add action → Show/hide contour lines
Add action → Show hide terrain
Right Panel → enable:
Speed
Altitude
Left Panel → enable:
Compass

Hi! I would like to know if there is a way to improve the use of OsmAnd app which would notify users by screen flashing, vibrating or maybe sending warning to an external device which would sit in user's pocket when user is approaching to waypoints specified inside a ?.gpx file. Here's why: when riding a motorcycle during sunny days the mobile screen reflects the sunshine and it is hard to see a waypoints on display and riders can't hear the phone's sounds. I guess screen flashing would be the best way to warn/notify riders. It would be nice if OsmAnd would let users decide the proximity of the warning, number of flashes, light's intensity, speed and color of flashes. So far I liked OsmAnd app for navigation. If it could display warnings as I described it would be great because available voice prompts are kind of useless. I would like the OsmAnd to display flash notification when approaching specified waypoints without the need to be in Navigation mode. I load the ?.gpx track with waypoints and go for a ride and change the route on the go so route navigation is not needed. Can it be done or does the user have to enter navigation mode? It's kind of inconvenient when a group of riders change the route plan maybe few times during the group ride but specified waypoints(speed cameras) are a constant and expensive to ignore. here's example of data inside ?.gpx file: Name Address Kind regards

Yeah the ability to see ALL tracks from Walhalla all the way to Omeo is quite awesome! I think most GPS apps assume heavy use around cities when displaying everything is a real clutter.

I found it glitchy, and slow. Switched to LocusMaps and for the road sections, used Google Maps. Waaayyy smoother and less glitchy

@@FirstLightAdv the difference between $30 and $0 is significant. I'm not saying you're a bad person, but what happened to the piracy lovers on the internet? Where did they go? In 2001, everyone was sharing mp3s on Napster and I mean everywhere. People understood that the internet was free. But in 2022? Everyone says everything costs money here which it doesn't at all. This stuff is FREE.

@@nirv Doesn't mean they are a liar. It might mean the don't have that info. A liar is willfully giving incorrect information. There could be other reasons for not sharing other sources of (possibly) cracked or pirated software.
