Excellent. The amount of information that you can download to each map is amazing on GAIA. It's saved my butt on quite a few times while being very remote.

This is a great series thanks for putting all this together - I really like GAIA a lot better now that I understand how to use it!

Great video series Sir. Question - - If you down load map layers on on IOS device, such as iPhone, will the down loads occur automatically on another device such as an iPad on the same account?
@ggg4runner8 ай бұрын
It is supposed to yes, assuming you have the "auto-resume" on in Settings > Map Downloads

So usefull, verry clear and complete. 2 questions: 1. When testing if your downloaded map is available offline, shouldn’t you also block the access to cellular data for the app? (Sorry if my English isn’t good, I speak French☺. And sorry if my questions are too basic.) My point is I’m not sure where the downloaded map is saved. Is it in the phone memory or in the cloud? I think it’s in the phone memory so even if there is no signal, you can access to the map. So, for the test, you block Gaia to access cellular data? 2. How can we delete downloaded maps?

You can forget my second question! You give the answer in your next video.

just use the airplane mode function and you can double-check your offline data

wow! very useful and practical video. Can i ask, what does the "clear Cache" do (inside settings)? it seems sometimes my Gaia mobile app gets 'stuck' and says things like 'not connected to the internet' even though my cell phone is connected to my home wifi. Does the cache get too overfilled?

Same as clearing cache in your web browser, that is, it will remove temporarily stored data from your device. It shouldn't have anything to do with the issue you are describing but it also won't hurt anything. I have never experience the issue you are describing but try searching the GAIA forums for help.

While I appreciate all the effort…the fact that you are on “ch. 4” and more than an hour of run time in is kinda the point…GAIA needs a rewrite. It’s not intuitive or user friendly. Thank you for trying. It’s not you. It’s GAIA.

You're not wrong. But hey, it gave me a video topic right? 😜 The thing is, I don't think any feature-rich application is really all that intuitive; they all take some level of effort to learn to use effectively. I'm certainly have no reason to defend GAIA nor am I attempting to but I can't really think of an app that has a lot of features and little to no learning curve. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
