This is extremely remarkable. Maybe one of the first times I've seen a crowd funded product roll out be better than advertised. The amount of control and nuance for keyboardist can be ground breaking. Aside from the included great patches, I think it would be awesome to see and hear how the keybed reacts to more traditional deep sampled sounds made specifically for it i.e. an full blown Rhodes, 338 semi hollow guitar, Strat patch with distortion, Pedal Steel, even hearing a Piano with that kind of pitch bend and modulation per note on the fly now that we have that kind of control with real keys.
@OmenAhead Жыл бұрын
It's a good keyboard, but way too overrated in terms of the actual control. It has many flaws, for example, the aftertouch is not independent of pressure, which means that to access the aftertouch, the pressure must be already 100%, and also to access the pitch bend you need to have a bit of pressure on. Also, the black keys do a lot less pitch bend than the white ones, for some reason. Other keyboards have done that way better (like the Roli Seaboard etc), but of course those are midi controllers without a synth engine. Don't get me wrong, but it's the interesting synth engine that is probably what is worth it than the expressiveness and control.

@@zooie1044 The suggested retail price has not changed @ $1799.00 USD. Just like the current pre-order, I did put a $300.00 deposit down 3 years ago. I feel that from what I have seen coming out of Expressive-E thus far, the keyboard is certainly worth much more. If you are interested in pre-ordering now, my suggestion is to do so before the stock runs out. The next production run could certainly increase the retail price due to the continued chip shortage and price increases.

I got mine a couple of days ago, waited for it almost 6 months and it was worth waiting. I´m somewhat of a self paced learner, relying on my ears and some quick finger repositioning :) I´m very impressed by the sonic capabilities of this beautiful instrument. When i start playing something, it becomes a bilateral interaction between me and the osmose, as if i get detached, moved into some kind of listener/observer perspective, watching and listening to the rest of me interacting with the instrument. Every patch has its own magic and inspires me to play in its own particular way. It´s like a form of meditation. I was always attracted to creating sounds and experimenting with all the different parameters that model the sonic appearance. But somehow the lack of playing skill (technique) always pulled me back so i could not get into proper enjoyment. This is the first time that i have this beautiful feeling of being able to let myself go, and my fingers somehow develop a life on their own when playing the osmose. I know, this may sound somewhat of a fanboy noobish kind, but it is as it is... it is hard for me to find the proper words to express the kind of joy i feel when turning the osmose on and getting into playful interaction. Can´t wait to get my hands on the Haken editor.... Thanks to the Expressive-E team for bringing such a beauty to life! Merci beaucoup

Feature request: Foot-switch-activated pressure glide, which disregards all notes already playing before the switch is pressed. With settings to set the foot-switch to momentary or latching, or it could be a setting for a sustain-pedal. This would allow for sustaining chords, while allowing for a wide range for the glide. Also, eventually (no hurry) a stand-alone editor would be awesome. Maybe with preset and setlist-type organisation. This is all wish-list stuff though. I received my Osmose yesterday, and it’s a fantastic instrument. Thanks for delivering on the promises, and then some! :)

Good god damn. US shipping can’t come fast enough! And the first time I am wishing for more than 128 presets. Seems like you can go down a lot of rabbit holes with this keyboard.
@pachde2 жыл бұрын
(assuming it's the same for all EaganMatrix instruments) -- Using the Haken Editor, you can load and save presets from files on the computer, so you can have as many user presets as you wish to create -- just a max of 128 custom presets loaded onto the instrument at a time. The predefined presets are always available.
@CommandorX2 жыл бұрын
I don't quite see the reason to have fixed preset locations. Is it a hardware issue to have all presets be user defined, if wanted?
@pachde2 жыл бұрын
@@CommandorX I'm guessing it's more of a historical limitation (it's been in development for >20 years). Earlier versions were limited to 16 user presets (probably less memory in early models)), and only relatively recently expanded to 128. The system preset files are the identical format to user preset files, so in principle, it's more of a design limitation/choice of the user interface for managing presets. My understanding is that in the experience of Haken Audio, most users don't go much beyond system presets - there's a tremendous depth to explore there already. The engine is deep, and has a learning curve to really do sound design. If you discover that you have a genuine use case for more than 128 user presets, I'm sure that Haken Audio would listen. Their support is awesome.
@CommandorX2 жыл бұрын
@@pachde In this context, I could easily imagine saving, for example, 5 to 10 variations of a factory preset before trying another of the 500. As a live performer, I want easy access to edited patches to work more specifically as certain functions or songs. So one useful official patch could generate 10s of user iterations. It makes 128 feel a bit limited to me. I'm nonetheless really looking forward to diving into this instrument.

Is it possible to turn off the reverb or delay across all patches if using an external effect pedal?
@ExpressiveE2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kjetil, we are sorry to say that this is currently not possible. You would have to save an edited factory preset as a user preset to have it 100% dry. Even then, a few presets have a delay programmed inside the modulation matrix of the EaganMatrix itself, which runs independently from the global fx. I will report your use case as a feature request.
@CommandorX2 жыл бұрын
@@ExpressiveE thanks alot! I understand the trouble of delays built into the matrix, and I think the global fx is the most relevant thing to be able to switch off. Happy New Year! And congratulations on finally releasing this beauty to the world!
