In this video, we explore the fascinating process of osmosis using a simple potato and sugar experiment. Watch as we demonstrate how water moves through a semi-permeable membrane to create equilibrium. Perfect for students and educators, this experiment offers a clear and visual understanding of osmosis in action.

✡️Note: In this experiment, we will observe osmosis using a potato, sugar, and red-colored water.
✡️ Follow these steps to understand the process:
1)Peel a potato and cut a block with maximum volume.
2)Carefully carve a groove inside the potato block, making sure the walls are thin but intact.
3)Fill the groove with a few spoons of crushed sugar and add a small amount of water.
4)Mark the sugar solution level with a pin.
5)Place the potato block in a glass bowl filled with red-colored water. Ensure the water level does not exceed the top of the potato.
After 45 minutes, observe that the sugar solution inside the potato has turned red and the solution level has risen.
✅Explanation:
Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane from an area of lower solute concentration to an area of higher solute concentration. In this experiment, the potato acts as a semi-permeable membrane. Water moves from the red-colored solution (lower sugar concentration) into the sugar solution inside the potato (higher sugar concentration), demonstrating osmosis. This causes the solution level inside the potato to rise and change color, providing a clear visual representation of the process.
