so from the chart and example that you show, the slave will reach full state first than the master reach full state later ?
@PracticalNetworking Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily... not every time at least. Consider if the master has more routes it learned from the slave, it will take longer to "load" them into the LSDB, and therefore will be later to reach the "Full" state. But it could easily have gone the other way around.
@leetanizer Жыл бұрын
Hello and once again thanks for the amazing work. I have a small question though, does the Master/Slave election only maters inside the ExStart and Exchange states ? or does it dictate who start the "LSR-LSU-LSAck" process in the Loading state? many thanks
@The--J0ker Жыл бұрын
At 10.16 why does slave send an empty DBD to master what is purpose of an empty dbd؟
@PracticalNetworking Жыл бұрын
To confirm reception of the master's DBD.
@adedejiemmanuel12 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, At the 2-Way State, will the routers be negotiating (auto) or they are simply comparing configurations (as set by the administrator) to ensure adjacency?
@PracticalNetworking2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It's more simply comparing items in the Hello packets. If there is a mismatch, the adjacency fails. There isn't a "negotiation", more like an "ultimatum". (if I misunderstood your Q, please feel free to ask again!)
@adedejiemmanuel12 жыл бұрын
@@PracticalNetworking Thanks
@medosasa45805 ай бұрын
Hello, distinguished teacher... I want to ask about the empty DBD package that the master and slave exchange during the exchange stage... Do we consider it as an acknowledgment from them of receiving the database summary??.... And is the concept of master and slave the same concept the DR & DR Other??
@PracticalNetworking5 ай бұрын
Yes, the DBD packets form a system of acknowledgement. No, they are different than the DR/BDR, see Lesson 6 for info on the DR/BDR. The Master/Slave are only a component of syncing databases, they don't really serve a purpose outside of that.

No bull I love it !!! When you are studying for the CCNA, especially if you are just getting into IT from another career, you don't need all of the unnecessary stuff found in other material. I love that this is down to the bone. Great job, I am planning on purchasing your full course. I have been through at least two full paid courses before finding your material and I wish I could take back the hours of pulling my hair out figuring this stuff out because the other courses glossed over things or did not explain them to a depth that I felt I needed. If I ever get to the point of mentoring someone I will send them here first thing. I would love to see a specific CCNA course that actually follows the Cisco Blueprint step by step. A lot of courses try but I think you could do a better job. keep it up!
@827jimenez Жыл бұрын
To echo the well deserved praise you've received from others, you're truly the best Network instructor out there! I've also paid for multiple courses on CCNA but I came cross your youtube when I was trying to get a better grasp on subnetting and your series there really helped me better understand it. I continued my other courses but then found you cover many of the CCNA topics individually, you really help nail things down! I was starting to think this just wasn't for me when I got to the Dynamic Routing Protocols area, but you've really pulled me through. I'm planning on sitting for the exam in the next 2 months, but if you ever developed a structured CCNA or CCNP course, I'd gladly pay for it. Thank you very much for all your work!
@PracticalNetworking Жыл бұрын
I know this is late, but I still wanted to drop a note of appreciation at your kind post. I'm so happy you found my content helpful and it helped push you along in your CCNA & CCNP journey. I hope you were able to pass on your first go! I think about making a full CCNA course pretty frequently, but at this point other projects are taking priority. I'm planning on expanding my Networking series into a full fledged fender agnostic networking course. ANd maybe following that I can branch off into the specific vender certifications. In any case, thanks for the kind note =) GOod luck with your certification goals.

Nice You could mention (even though DR/BDR are not explained in detail) that *2Way* state is correct with non-DR routers, so not 100% relations are expected to be *Full*

Funny you should mention it. I just finished the video which focuses on DR/BDR and the 2-WAY/Drother adjacency state is directly covered =). Hoping to release the next set of OSPF videos in the next few weeks. Find me on Discord if you want to preview that video =), I can set something up.
