Thank you. Took me 6 tries to get Squashing the giant. I only had 50 magic and +15 magic attack bonus so sometimes I'd splash a snare and take a hit. This video helped me get the timing right for casting snare and running to the corners to keep a safe distance.

@@packerfan2010 right now castle wars boots are BIS with +1 str, it does give a max hit with some setups. Having an alternative would be nice.

You do not need the brass key. If you are like 40s combat stats and you think it will be iffy, enter from the edgeville side, about one screen south of the edgeville bank, north of that fishing spot you spent forever at. This will keep you from needing a brass key, which gives you one more swordfish if you're trying to fight Obor before you're at the level where everyone recommends (everyone recommends combat stats all 50, but it's doable with 40s, full rune and swordies with like 5 anchovy pizzas if you're careful) When you get to where the hill giants are, go up the ladder (but not through the door bc you don't have the key) to rest and restore your run energy.

tip for getting Squash the Giant: his magic defense is pretty terrible, to the point that you can get away with bringing armour with good crush defense and still hit him reliably despite the magic attack penalty.

One, the boots are easy to get. BIS should be much harder, even on f2p. Two, he always hits me with the club. I don't understand. But I'm very unhappy about it.

So I'm having trouble with Sleeping Giant. I did 3 kc so far and each kc he was snared but no achievement. Now the wiki says use a melee attack to finish him after the snare? But you didnt do that here so I'm still very much confused here.

The timing is tricky. I believe snare running out during Obor's death animation works against us as players. I think it's a timing issue

@@silverosrc ok which is unforturnate. I eventually did get the CA by using snare as the final source of damage. I got him health low and just used snare until he died and it worked. ty

Several times I had Obor well snared and then I kill him and did not get the Sleeping Giant achievement. What are the particulars for this? I tried switching to melee to deliver the final blow while he was immobilized as well.

Have you tried getting him to one hit within death and then dealing the final hit? Perhaps the timing is a little weird. You could be killing obor and the snare ends during the death animation so that technically when the KC is counted the snare had "ended". I'm not even sure if that's an issue, it's also possible it's just bugged. Also what spell are you using to imbolize him?

@@silverosrc having same problem as well. freezing him with ice bursts, was trying to keep casting spells till he moved. maybe snare is better with highest combat spell

@@CvmmanderCvdy these kinds of challenges are a pain. It seems like you can actually kill him while he's frozen or snared but the timer can run out during the exagerated death animation causing you to not get the task. If it's not that, it's potentially bugged? I'd try world hopping b4 you give it another go. Either way, try and get his hp as close to a shot kill after you've got him trapped

i cast snare on him and half the time my character just stares at him, then i get hit with melee.. this fking is pissing me off

If an NPC is already under the effects of snare, it won't recast. Afterwards there's a couple second cooldown on the snare as well before you can recast, perhaps you're casting too soon.
