Here's a little trick I found to avoid ever having to tank 2 in melee range: stand in the passageway next to the gate. When there's no bird in reach, close the gate, take a step back, then open the gate again and you'll find a bird has moved into position.

Thank you for this video!! I found out that if you stand behind the gate, it will push the bird out and you will always have a 1 v 1. You can alternate between the passageway and behind the gate.

If you have a crush weapon better than a d mace by this point, you don't need this guide lol. D scim outperforms the mace here. Edit: I calc'd it at 70s in melee. Scim is better unless you have torso+fc+b gloves, in which case use a d mace. If you have no str boosting gear besides mid RFD gloves and climbing boots, scim wins.
