Thank you for taking me on this walk today. I felt like I needed to get into the countryside but didn't want to drive anywhere first so this was perfect as it's on my doorstep. Ooo you were right about that incline across the field though. I thought, nah I won't get out of breath... But I did!!! 😂

Good walk. I discovered the track down from Gawthorpe myself quite recently but coming at it from Earlsheaton. First time followed your route and turned right at the stone bridge but next time continued under the motorway up to Kirkhamgate joining Batley road and then picking up Leeds road back to Dewsbury. Just shy of 8 miles.

Awesome effort, mate. I lived in Kirkhamgate for many years. There are some great local walks.

It's dead easy, Neil. Just follow my directions. Start at the Town Hall and walk up Kingsway to Gawthorpe. Then walk down the High Street, down Gawthorpe Lane towards Kirkhamgate, then turn right before the stone bridge and head up the fields, past the farm, over the ploughed field, then turn left and follow the lane until you go through the tunnel. Then turn right onto Dewsbury Road and then turn left up Dale Street back to Ossett Town Hall.
