Ask anyone with OA, inflammation is definitely involved. It's just local to the joint rather than systemic. Those inflammatory mediators in the joint shift the balance from cartilage anabolism to catabolism. This significantly contributes to OA progression.

I need advice I am 26 active, my weight is 104 lbs. I get extreme pain flare ups all over my body. Sometimes my limbs tingle. My jaw swells and food is hard to chew without my jaw having pain. It brings me to my knees.. I've missed work and school because of it. Dental X-ray of left jaw shows the bone pointy instead of round. CT scan shows Osteoarthritis. I did have basic labs done to check my vitamin levels and blood counts. All came back good. The only abnormal value was inflammation. I deal with chronic pain I am wore out Im tired I need advice please 😥

I am so sorry to hear that, but I really don’t know...I think you need a good rheumatologist and a good neurologist...Please talk to your doctor and seek many different medical opinions...I wish I could help but I am not a doctor and I don’t know...Sorry! I wish you the best...Please Keep me updated!
@destany95915 жыл бұрын
Medicosis Perfectionalis thank you I'm scheduled to see a rheumatologist on August 7th - He can evaluate the osteoarthritis in my jaw joint. I will. Tell him about the other things I deal with. Until then I'm not sure how to cope. My primary try me on different inflammation/pain reducer meds. They work for a short time then I suffer pain flares. I keep active but it doesn't seem to improve but get worse. I'm having a rough time. I usually always was happy go lucky I love college and work until I was struck out of no where with mysterious pain. Sorry im not complaining it's just hard to handle daily

Thanks for listening!!!!! On a bright note I recently met the doctor who saved my life when I was born, a preemie, the hospital camera crew filmed the story of him and I. The video is on KZbin. Feel free to watch it. I'm working on writing a book in college. Here's the link to the video. It's very inspiring. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5nKaWaEj6agmbs

i am studying from my professor's notes and it says that in OA inflammatory mediators are released which worsen the damage.... i did not quite understand it because you are saying its non -inflammatory.
@MedicosisPerfectionalis4 жыл бұрын
It’s non-inflammatory meaning there is no systemic inflammation, and that inflammation is not the triggering factor...That doesn’t mean that there is zero local inflammation, there’s some.
