Appreciated! Nice and cozy! Nothing for the long-haul by any means, but a significant upgrade nonetheless!

I would love to see how a Pizza-slice shaped ship would work. Obviously, i imagine that the broad crust would be at the docking end, allowing for quick access to cargo bay.. with the (flight deck) acute pointing away from the station. Oooh, me creative juices are flowing. But it's not a pizza unless it has pineapple and olives, though.

i'm glad to see yeti made his ship bigger and did it off screen. now about that meat.... do it!

I would have liked to see the ship's renovation or rejuvenation. That build process is what connects you to a ship, knowing the amount of time and effort that went into it is important. It's more about the journey, than the destination. Even if Yeti did release a primarily building episode, if you didn't like it you don't have to watch it.

I tried to timelapse it but it wasn't exactly a large enough project for that. With small renovations here and there, I'll probably just off-screen it a la Software Inc (though Software Inc's were far from small renovations - those probably could have been timelapsed)

Love the ship, Yeti. More space = More money. Now you just need a non-meat derelict to salvage. Also love your honesty and humility about the build. Next time, save the effort of recording and editing a timelapse, just run a chill build livestream. You don't even have to talk if you don't want to.

The timelapse didn't really work out. I'll give it a go again next time, but I think small improvements over time are the way.

7:00 the biggest lie. The other ships bonk you then fly off letting you deal with the after math. 9:10 transponder moves are the only thing I save scum in the game. The 1 in 5 is so dumb. I can rebuild a reactor but cant move a console? 12:30 You can't buy non-colors anymore. Or at least I have never seen them. You can still find them on derelicts though. 16:35 I can go more into how meat spawns but the check is when you first dock with a derelict. 20:40 battery is also the air pump and co2 filter. Learned that the hard way., I suggest building extensions to the left and right of your airlock, like four tiles wide and throw a pair of turbo pumps in to suck out all the air before you leave. I find it helps save a ton of air when autotask is moving stuff into the ship. Have them pumps back into a corridor with a vent that leads to the central room.

Was thinking of a way to clearly move air into the ship from the airlock rather than waste it all, but was concerned about contaminants. I don't think it's going to be a thing for a very long time (probably just one gross system out there somewhere), but having some sort of control would be great. Regarding meat, and generally derelicts' generation, nothing seems certain until you dock. The only thing that _appears_ to exist pre-docking is the shape and size of the derelict (thus also the type, I guess?) due to clamps going green at different distances. The distance in the docking view is... the antenna, I guess? I've had clamps go green as close as 50 meters and as far as 250 and I'm not convinced its a lining up problem. Krug always hits the toilet bowl. Always. That gives the game time to decide what is and isn't on cooldown, ensuring you'll always get a decent derelict in time and always get a meaty surprise, if enabled, after some cooldown. 30 minutes or an hour IRL seems right.

1) Like what you did with the ship. A lot of people seem to just build huge cargohauler in nature, while yours is just cozy and functional at the same time. 2) I wonder if it'd be a good idea to place a switch right after batteries and just turn the connection off when you explore the derelict. To save on charge and stuff, like to tun off the lights in your home when you go out. Don't have the game, so don't know if it'll mess up some atmosphere automatics or not, but it sounds good in my head at least.

Just one thing. The door also needs power to open/close.
@JasonDeAthenrye
@JasonDeAthenrye 18 күн бұрын
Most the starting ships and the police cruiser have the batteries behind a switch, but I find power is relatively cheap after you have a battery or two. A single O2 tanks usually sells for enough to cover it. Air is the expensive one.

If one's confident they can rebuild atmosphere and temperature quickly, it can be done, but probably want to go battery to transponder (to antenna?) to stay legal and have some way of ensuring the door is always powered. Complicated and probably not hugely worth it. As Jason said, electricity is incredible cheap on K-Leg. I assume other stations have different prices. It's fun being able to puzzle stuff like that out, though.

i wonder if itd work to deal ship damage (by crashing) in order to destroy the meat clinging to the ship. two ways i know of, is to crash or major use of thrusters while docked to anything
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 18 күн бұрын
If the meat is visible on the scanner, it should be damageable that way. The only caveat is the assumption damage calculations are actually performed on segments and not simply distributed ship-wide or randomly. Not sure on that... probably worth trying if it happens again. Anything more than 7 or 8 meats feels unmanageable for poor glass-lungs Krug.

Is there any benefit to having a double walled hull? Has the value of your ship increased with the newly renovated wings? Also, what item of salvage has the largest grid footprint? I would plan the main cargo area around accommodating at least one of the largest items, regardless of its value. I'm guessing that the bigger treasure has more worth.
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 18 күн бұрын
Double walls might help for damage calculations on collision and provide an extra layer in case of a hull breach, but sorting airlocks and generally handling the weight would be a problem. There's some "wipple" framework or so from the sundries shop that could work for an outer layer, but it won't hold atmosphere. Value increased slightly, but generally it won't go up by much until we get those ears separated with a door. Currently it's viewed as just one big room. EDIT: Room count seems to be a big factor in value, much like housing. Largest item I've seen was 3x4, I think? Loose doors are 1x5 and most furnishings are 2x2 or 2x3 - pretty easy to work around, especially with cargo nets outside for the oddball things.

make shure the thermostat is in the same room with the heater / cooler. i died once because of that mistake... the room was at 500°C+

20:15 good thing you noticed, i once died because i was fast forwarding during ship maintenance (outside), battery died and this lead to suffocation
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 18 күн бұрын
Yeah... easy mistake. Hoping to get some vents for that reason. There's also a fancy switch with logic gates that might allow syncing climate control to multiple alarms (sundries often has it), but I'm too early into my coffee to think about that more :P

If i ever plan to sleep through any shifts, i make sure too prepay my mortgages and not be docked with okleg cuz the late payment fee's are extortion.

Also you can leave stuff anywhere on the station as you wish. Their is no littering, and no npc will pick up anything. The only downside to leaving your parts and loose equipment everywhere as it looks like a trash station to put it nicely anytime I do it in my playthroughs.
@usersicon
@usersicon 18 күн бұрын
When a npc puts something on the ground or if something is on the ground already the game won't allow npc to pick up anything. Due to early play test npc's would do weird things to the station that caused the station to break/not be functional

i prefer to sleep latched to a derelict or the flotilla. personally i have an ultra-large ship and it costs 1200 an hour just to be there, sleeping gets expensive. you just got to make sure you do whatever work first so that you don't get caught with an expired permit later.
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 18 күн бұрын
The prepay is great, but having trouble figuring out how to do it if I already paid for the current shift? Regarding littering, I'll store what I can around the station and maybe make certain areas "mine" for temp storage. It looks like warehouses could eventually be a thing, so I'm not against it. I'm not going to drop-stack everything into a pile, though. That just doesn't seem right :D
