in my experience, if you power down your whole ship the authorities don't view your ship as an active salvage operation, you're just like a derelict. someone correct me? maybe i was just getting lucky or maybe i'm just an idiot and it doesn't even matter. you can refill O2 bottles by dropping them on the floor under the O2 pump output and switching it to "on" through the control panel. it has to be using a turbo pump set to slow though, otherwise the bottle just instantly explodes and you loose it.

Love the video, fight the good fight. With two crew I was filling 20 bags of meat a trip. It was a good moneymaker. Eating one-piece of slimy meat each helped stamina a lot. Grisly stuff though. It was possible to clear a large ship in theory. But you'd need a lot more than 20 bags. Catana was also much better at stabbing 🫣

@iamzid I think it's the only way to really enjoy the game. I can see why the Dev put it in, for early game, to stop you completely ripping apart ships. There are better ways of implementing a slower progression, like having tier levelled tools, quest related tools, monetizing tools behind barriers or certain tools only dismantle walls and floors. Having meat take over an entire derelict, then infect and spread to your side of the docking/airlock, without even being in contact with your ship, is very poor design. lol

In some cases would it be worth repairing the equipment you're salvaging while its still on the derelict? Theres all those spare parts etc kicking around, seems like often more than enough to fix up the big equipment before you uninstall it and bring it onto your ship? Also, that meat, man! Fully agree with you that the UI is too cumbersome. I'm earlier than you with the original small ship size. I constantly forget whats in the inventories and have to have my character go around reopening everything to see whats full or not. I have a couple suggestions too. I like your UI changes suggestions for bags/clothes. Similar to that, the following aren't really pockets. Please allow me to toggle off showing the battery and CO2 scrubber slot of my worn equipment when I press "I" and keep it toggled rather than resetting. I have to close them every single time. I think if you have opened a storage, then the far right info section should show the contents if you scroll down. This will help us not have to remember exactly where empty spaces might still exist. Maybe I still dont understand hauling and zones. It would be nice to specifically be able to say, Haul to zone _. I've noticed being able to set what thpe of materials could be in a zone but it still feels clunky. Like ive been storing stuff in the starting bedroom, but theres not quick way for me to assign them to haul something from the ship to the room. Unless I mess with the zone settings. Another example would let us haul material alway from meat quickly to asafer section of a derelict using a temporary zone. Then move the items later to the ship. Then.... portable containers could also be assigned zones even though you are moving them with you. Idk. It's not always obvious where an item can fit. Walls fit on the floor or dolly, floor pieces can go in bags and I think can stack?, some scraps/parts can go on the dolly but others cant. It's not obvious in UI without playing around and memorizing. Like put a max stack size somewhere in the info on the right. Same with object size. Also put object size for all objects in shops. Also for tools, let us see the tags for the tools in the shop and how better they are than the others.

@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti Күн бұрын
I've just tested, and the cargo net cannot hold atmosphere. I'm not sure what tag specifically dictates your average wall and floor is airtight as most relevant-sounding tags are shared between cargo nets and floors. That said, the only benefit of an indoor cargo net versus a normal floor I can think of is lighter weight. If you're got the floorspace for the cargo net indoors, you may as well just put whatever object on said floor. The "ground" menu cannot accept items if you're in space (unless you forcefully drop an item), which is where the cargo net shines - it provides that ground tile.

The only thing I've maybe done differently than most is set ambient occlusion 4 in the video settings. I know what it's _supposed_ to be doing, but the settings don't really reflect that and can still eat a ton of GPU. Considering the file structure of the game (layers and layers of sprites laid out), a solid-state drive or m.2 drive would be ideal.

SIRCCA wasn't going to use the monolith ever again, so why not just break it after the test? Noontide was split between the pacifists and the warmongers and the warmongers left with Faust. Strider's half genuinely wanted to break the cycle of conflict and be better, they know how dangerous the monolith is and want no one to mess around with it and we get to see why Strider was right. But Dalin and SIRCCA are just like, "Nah, it'll be fine we'll be in control." This is after Dalin had seen how the monolith test didn't go as expected. However, because the test went well enough he just rushed ahead to fully commit to connecting to the generators. So surprise surprise the unexpected happens again because Dalin didn't want to "waste time" looking into it.

Is there any benefit to having a double walled hull? Has the value of your ship increased with the newly renovated wings? Also, what item of salvage has the largest grid footprint? I would plan the main cargo area around accommodating at least one of the largest items, regardless of its value. I'm guessing that the bigger treasure has more worth.
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 4 күн бұрын
Double walls might help for damage calculations on collision and provide an extra layer in case of a hull breach, but sorting airlocks and generally handling the weight would be a problem. There's some "wipple" framework or so from the sundries shop that could work for an outer layer, but it won't hold atmosphere. Value increased slightly, but generally it won't go up by much until we get those ears separated with a door. Currently it's viewed as just one big room. EDIT: Room count seems to be a big factor in value, much like housing. Largest item I've seen was 3x4, I think? Loose doors are 1x5 and most furnishings are 2x2 or 2x3 - pretty easy to work around, especially with cargo nets outside for the oddball things.

I can rebuild a reactor but cant move a console? 12:30 You can't buy non-colors anymore. Or at least I have never seen them. You can still find them on derelicts though. 16:35 I can go more into how meat spawns but the check is when you first dock with a derelict. 20:40 battery is also the air pump and co2 filter. Learned that the hard way., I suggest building extensions to the left and right of your airlock, like four tiles wide and throw a pair of turbo pumps in to suck out all the air before you leave. I find it helps save a ton of air when autotask is moving stuff into the ship. Have them pumps back into a corridor with a vent that leads to the central room.
@ClosetYeti
@ClosetYeti 4 күн бұрын
Was thinking of a way to clearly move air into the ship from the airlock rather than waste it all, but was concerned about contaminants. I don't think it's going to be a thing for a very long time (probably just one gross system out there somewhere), but having some sort of control would be great. Regarding meat, and generally derelicts' generation, nothing seems certain until you dock. The only thing that _appears_ to exist pre-docking is the shape and size of the derelict (thus also the type, I guess?) due to clamps going green at different distances. The distance in the docking view is... the antenna, I guess? I've had clamps go green as close as 50 meters and as far as 250 and I'm not convinced its a lining up problem. Krug always hits the toilet bowl. Always. That gives the game time to decide what is and isn't on cooldown, ensuring you'll always get a decent derelict in time and always get a meaty surprise, if enabled, after some cooldown. 30 minutes or an hour IRL seems right.
