Well going back a few years Tony , Hugo was the inspiration , not only yours , but mine . When you built Freddie that was the reality , not only for you but for me as well and after 40 years of caravans , we've never looked back nor would we . Your friends would probably not get that same feeling that you and we get from spacious vans like ours with fixed beds which is a pity . Asking for a little info here both , do you know if the road through the Somport has opened yet . I wouldn't have thought so . Great vlog both , take care and stay safe .

Hi there Ken, many thanks for your kind words mate and it's unbelievable that you have been with us for so long, but it is definitely appreciated and inspiring. It's great to hear that you have not looked back from your caravan days. Yep, unfortunately Craig and Debs tried everywhere to get a bigger van, but they couldn't find a company that would allow for a trip to France and beyond. Luckily they found a company in Essex that covers European hire. According to Google maps, the tunnel is currently still closed!! Hopefully it will be open in time for your travels buddy. Take care and all the best, Tony and Claire.

Great to see a new series. Looking forward to seeing the Pyrenees and hoping to get there myself. Just wondering what size bed did you put in the back of Freddie? Did you go with a standard double or small double, or something bespoke? About to start a LWB Boxer conversion and not sure what's best so your experiences after travelling so much would be useful.
@adventurevanfreddie2 ай бұрын
Good evening, many thanks for watching. Our bed is a small double, 4ft by 6ft. Yep, we get on fine with the bed, especially considering our usual bed is a king size....no problems at all. It's better than our king size! Obviously, the bed is a very important consideration for your build, so although we are happy with our bed, installing a standard double would be a good choice. If we can help in anyway regarding your van build, give us a shout. Good luck with it and many thanks again. Take care, Tony and Claire.

Just thought I’d add that the camper your friends hired is not a VW factory built California, it’s a VW conversion, think your friend was mis-informed 🙂 All VW factory built Campervans have door/awning on continental side and are very well thought out, we loved ours for the 5 years we had it.

It's a shame your friends couldn't find a bigger van to hire. Don't get me wrong, I love "Kermit" to bits, but I'm beginning to think I need a bigger (your size) van. I know I'm solo, but sometimes with health issues, putting the roof up, making the bed etc can be a problem. It's a big decision, because the smaller van has it's advantages. Looking forward to this series Cheers guys 👍 🐸
@adventurevanfreddie2 ай бұрын
Hi there buddy. Yep, unfortunately our friends couldn't find a hire company that would cover for European adventures, however, as you will see, they soon get used to it. Yep, it all depends on how much time you will spend in the van and the comfort level you require. For us, the pros for having a larger van outweighed the cons. Yes, I completely understand your dilemma, especially if sometimes your health makes it difficult in a small van. Only you will know what's right for you, however, if we can help in anyway, let us know. Our thanks is with you as always and we wish you all the very best. Tony and Claire. 👍💙❤️🚐📷

campervaning and caravanning are two totally different types of camping. I am not saying that one is better than the other. People have different tastes and ideas, and I think it is wrong to force what you like on to other people. everybody is different and you should leave them to make there own mind up.
@adventurevanfreddie2 ай бұрын
Hi there, many thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave the comment. Indeed, two totally different ways of camping and there's definitely no 'forcing' my best friend to do something that he doesn't want to do. They approached us (as we said in the video) as they are considering switching to van but are unsure if this style of camping completely suits them; this is the reason why they've asked us to take them on an adventure. But like you say, each to their own and they will definitely make their own decisions. Many thanks again and all the best.

Greetings from Portugal, finally escaped the grey skies of England. Hope your friends enjoy the Pyrenees, they couldn’t have better guides as you must be familiar where to go and where not. As they were unable to get a decent size camper , I’m not sure you’ll win this battle and not having facilities available on a camp site will be a big change. Still should be an amazing experience and I know you’ll enjoy the company. ❤❤🚐🥹🥹😎😎Al

Helllllooooo Portugal👍. Hooray, out of the gloom and into the blue skies, well done our friend🌞🏖️. Definitely the time of year to escape the UK for a break👍. Have a great time in Portugal Al, enjoy the weather, the food and the odd glass of Port. All the very best, Tony and Claire.👍👌💙❤️🌞🍷
