it is going to be fully skinnable, including the menu, so if it looks bad to you, you will be able to change it how you like.

In 2007 there was a flame at the bottom of the screen that would get bigger and bigger until you broke a combo and it is really distracting and all you had to do to select a beatmap was holding your cursor there for 2 seconds

In osu 2018 in mania once you hit 100 combo a girl would show up and other game modes but i play mania all the time

Osu lazer is actually not perfect at gameplay. Rather than me describing it, You should play it for yourself. Osu Lazer definitely has the better menu in my opinions so thats subjective.

Yeah, Lazer is barely even playable. It looks super pretty at default, and it looks like it's going to give a lot more effect options for skins and things, but man, it plays badly. As in, I'd rather be playing with a trackpad badly.

I like the 2018 osu! better, it has more energy with a big button just waiting for you to get in and play. Whereas Lazer is cleaner it just doesn't give me that enthusiasm for the game. And the 2007 osu! is where it began so I like it for that. :)

Peppy wanted to make a client where you can do EVERYTHING in game so you don’t have to go on the website anymore for looking at the leaderboards, downloading Beatmaps etc. Also osu!lazer is opensource and because it uses the .NET Framework everyone can create their own gamemodes for osu!lazer. Its just osu completely redeveloped from scratch, the code is also more clean and its better optimized has better graphics and allows much more customization, for example animated skins. The map editor will also be better and the multiplayer will also be way more comprehensive and also more competitive (tournaments, 1v1 etc).

i don't see any reason to eliminate both tag menus on the song select menu. i don't like that "task bar" over the screen too. the start menu is good as it actually is but this one isn't too bad either. the in-game hud has no reason to be like that, i'm not paying atention to any of those numbers when playing and the hp bar is annoying. whatever you are going to do, don't change the in-game hud please.

Lazer looks clean and cool, but unfortunately it's not optimised enough (yet) to run on my potato PC. I hope they change it so that slower systems can run it well.
