I remember reading about these as a kid but never saw video of them. they move remarkably smoothly for 80's tech.

I'm pretty sure that if they can keep those motors used in turrets safe, they can keep mecha joints safe. And I'm also sure that if they can make fighter jets that can do all these crazy tricks, the can make mecha that can get back on its feet.

"half of the landmass on the planet is impassable by conventional wheeled or tracked vehicles"... proceeds to show the robot walking on flat land.... 😂😂😂

It's kinda like an early prototype of an AT-TE walker from the Star Wars Clone Wars era. They could probably make such a walker nowadays except without the blasters.

DARPA has blasters bro

Actually i wonder if that is what the AT-TE is based on.. hrrm
@jrvthatsme7 ай бұрын
@@aurorauplinks It's possible. I remember actually seeing this as a kid on tv back in the 80's. I don't remember what show or documentary it was on though. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Beyond 2000.

We have a lot of catching up to do to be able to build cheap and effective machines as insects do by the millions at a time. I dont know if we have robots as sophisticated as a common ant Yet?

All you need to defeat one of these is to trick it into walking along a slight incline and then it will fall over by itself.

These things look pathetic, but they're really just research platforms for working out the tricks that would be applied in the real deal later
